The Jeep wave phenomenon is too ironic for me. Off all the cars out there the only 2 I know of that have a "wave," as far as I have ever been told, is a Jeep and a Vette. This statement comes just by word-of-mouth in my experience. Do the Viper and Carrera owners wave at each other? They do right or no?
Volkswagen beetle drivers used to do that when they were on the roads.

it's the new generation. i mean, wtf do they know? guys like us who have been around a few decades know what the wave thing is all about. give them time, they'll learn.
Oh plz! Nothing is wrong with new generation. I wave at every corvette i see. Just the other day, i was at an intersection. I was taking left, a c5 with oldies came on the right side. I rolled down window, said hello and waved. No response. Not even a look. Felt foolish and insulted. How is that for your generation? I don't generalize base on a couple of instances. I suggest you don't do that too.
Haven't got many such waves from oldies while driving, doesn't bother me when driving, but at stop, atleast wave back when somebody is looking at you and waving.
Last week while coming through Gatlinburg, TN after a run through the Smoky Mt. Nat Park in our GS, we met a string of Vettes of all sorts and colors. Very exciting and impressive sight. Most people on the streets just stopped and stared. I stuck my arm out of the window in a perpetual wave and got a return wave from every one but one. That driver was busy watching pedestrian traffic, and I suspect would have waved if she had seen me. The tradition was alive and well.

True. My wife had to point out to me that the other Corvette drivers were waving to me before the {{snap}} went off in my head.
Unfortunately, many drivers today are so engaged with talking on their cell phones they don't see other cars, no less other drivers in those cars waving to them. Just this week I was almost hit by three different (sorry to say) women who pulled out in front of me without even glancing in my direction, even though I had right of way in every situation. These people have diarrhea of the mouth, and very little awareness of their surroundings or their obligations as drivers period, no less of having any social graces.

i saw a blue z06 in pa. today as i was headed home, waved as he was going by, got no response. i guess he figured why bother, i was only driving a base vette.
Read in one of the many other wave threads about the wave pecking order - base vette waves to a Z06, but Z does not wave to a lower model
I agree just wave. No excuses accepted on 2 lane highways or city streets. I will accept I didn't see on an interstate highway at 70 mph and in town on expressways with heavy traffic.
A couple of years ago I was riding along side of a Z. The couple had to be in their mid 80's. He had both hands planted on the wheel. I was thinking of him taking his right hand off to shift and an oncoming vette to wave? OMG.
I will never wave, cant stand vette owners, love the car though. Bunch of self righteous kno it alls. But it is all changing with the c7. The demographic is a changing and I cant wait
I wave to all vettes but I do find the C1, 2 and C3 owners rarely wave back. Its a bit irritating to wave and not receive one back but I figure they were either busy, inattentive or just a douche bag.
