I am definitely keeping my C6. The new design is UGLY to me. It's as though the engineers couldn't make up their mind about what they wanted to do with the car. I have looked at it closely. It has hints of the Ferrari, the Camaro and the GTR. It's not sure what it wants to be!!!! I'll give GM an A for effort but an F on execution for this model.

I like the design overall. But buying at MSRP isn't going to happen. I can wait till the deals are a little better and I'll trade up from a C6 to C7.

I prefer the C6 styling vs. the C7. I'll keep my 2012 Grand Sport, love it, loved the 2008 C6 Coupe before it. The C7 is a whole 15/100 hundredths of a second faster 0-60 MPH than my C6.

A friend and I were at Houston Coffee and Cars a couple of weeks ago. We commented on the simplicity of the rear of the Ferrari F430, 458 and California cars, wondered why the C7 designers could not have done the same.

Every interview from C7 associated persons relates they are going for a different demographic, younger, etc. Nothing against the C7 but I'll stick with my present ride.

I think Mr. Duntov would enjoy what his baby has become if he were around. The 63 split windows everyone places on a pedestal, he despised due to the design. He also favored high revving small blocks to the exalted big blocks of the 60s that everyone drools over. He went against the grain of what most of us Vette enthusiasts are conditioned to view as holy grails of the Vette world. Additionally, if it meant the car got around the track faster, extra vents or undulations in bodywork were always on the table for him. With a return to factory backed racing programs of today contributing to what the C7 performance will be in the hands of the people, words would probably fail him during a tour of Pratt & Miller.

To the contrary, it's unfortunate he isn't around because if you had told him how far this car has come since his day to culminate into its seventh iteration, with a factory backed racing program keeping the point of the spear sharp for future performance, he would probably thank you for the joke. But......it's all conjecture from me but I try to keep a positive on what Mr. Duntov would feel towards the new car. I love them all but the new C7 is as Dave Mclellan stated in the past during his run, "It's Corvette, only more so."

The question I have is, should you change what has been characteristically emblematic of Corvette for over half a century (e.g. the four round tail lights) to the new "Camaro style" lights?

Would you change the split grill of the BMW?
Would you make a major departure from the Harley Davidson Ultra?
Would you drastically change the grill of the Peterbilt 379?
Would you drastically change the style of the Porsche 911?

All of these vehicles are Iconic, and have evolved, but none have abandoned what is characteristically their styling trade marks. I think it is a styling faux pas when you abandon what is emblematic of your vehicle, in particular an American Icon like Corvette.

So you abandon much of your loyal demographic for a new demographic as opposed to an technologically upgraded and stylistically improved Corvette with it's signature trade mark. That's my take on where G.M. went wrong on the C7. Only time will tell.

Much of the C7 is influenced by the Ferrari, yet all of the late model Ferrari's retain the round (signature) tail lights.

Just to clarify, the C6 taillights are not quite round - they are 7 1/8" wide and 6 1/2" tall. OVAL

Good post King. Well stated..... The new design amounts to more that "if you don't like it don't buy it..."

True. And usually this kind of thing doesn't work
and a return to some version the original design
happens.Done, done and redone...

GM in Canada finally made a smart decision by starting the pricing around $51,000 up here. They will sell a lot more north of the border now.

As far as the tail lights go... I could care less. I don't love them but I don't hate them either. As long as they provide more efficiant lighting I'm fine with it. The rear of the car is the end I see the least of anyway.

I got the convertible as soon as it became available. My reaction to the C7 takes me back to the pre-C6 days for the most part. The profile is nice but the rest of the car is exactly what I don't like about sports cars. I am also not one for the "it will grow on you". A sports car in particular is a passion and not something one should have to take their time getting to know and like. If I am not immediately in love, the relationship will never really work. No question the bang for the buck is vastly in favor of the C7 versus other sports cars but it still isn't cheap. If I were in the market right now I'd probably look at another car I felt I'd never own which is the new Cayman S. Over-priced, but something I was surprised I liked upon first view. I cannot say of the C7 even after 100+ viewings. Regardless, I am sure it will sell well and there will be many who absolutely love it. I'll wait to see what's next.
O.M.G., We are so one the same page... Just turned 1,000 miles on our C 6.... We have had 15 vettes, never a new one until her...I posted on the C 7 discussion, and was nice and pointed out basically, what you did.. and they attached me, name calling, etc., and not the (Issue) and we may still order one, at some point.. I just so feel ( Uninformed ) , as getting a Ferrari Front-end, and paying double the price as per the Rear, when it LQQKS Like a Two-Seated Camaro!

So taking my Metric Calibers out, Lets get the dimensions , as per the
Ferrari Front end, and the Camaro Rear end, and please inform us as per paying, as per the Double-Triple-Price, for a ' Two-Seated', copy-Cat

Good post.

However, add me to the list of people that think that Windows 8 change for the sake of change Corvette is a dumpster fire.

I grew up with the 84 Corvette being the baddest car on the planet. I am forever in love with the wedge based, big round tail lighted Corvette. For me, a base C6 is a modern retro version 84. The style went from 84-13. I guess it's time for a change and I'm happy my favorite style lasted as long as it did, but the gaudy "generation me" iCorvette is not my flavor. I waited until reveal. The spy shots and leaks were true. iCorvette. Went out and bought a 2013 two weeks later. My last chance at owning a brand new version of what I consider the perfect car, a clean narrow body, no vent, tear drop window Corvette.

RIP the C4/C5/C6 beauties. Enjoy your disgusting quarter window and square taillights with Alice Cooper vents around them.

Default Upset:-) LOL

Here's the thing... I was sent many emails as per the Corvette Forum Staff, as the (Younger-People), were making fun of me, as per, working hard, all my life, and purchasing 'my own' Corvettes... They were stating, " Well-all kind of (misinformed) Not-Nice things, calling me old etc. and basically had no respect, for the younger folks, (not at all true)... Hired them,Still-Do! and pay, them well! Then, when, (I) wish to address them,(The Slacker), they won't allow me to! >>That Is Wrong!!!!!
Keep your little Smiles, out of it, just indicates, you can't express yourself!!!!!
I am upset, as the wife and I did work long-hours, and save we purchase our dream car.. and yes, I mentioned, we had, 15 Old Corvettes, in the past,( Both working three jobs) Duh, we purchased one at a time, trading-up!, and they replied=, " They get tired of us old people, saying we had (585)... Well, they need to take more of Dad's, money, and , well, ' Nice-(WORKING), people will 'Get-This'..The Slackers now can unite!
The rest, have no clue... Sure, (They) won't let me Post this!!!
but.. Great.. Venting!!! Thank-you, Old Man Bob!

There you go if the Rebel does not like it than it has to be bad, cause the Rebel ain't buying it unless it is good. And he knows good.
