There's a BMW M3 at work that utilizes the stock front tow hook hole to hold a license plate frame, our cars for some reason do not come with stock front tow hook locations (C'MON MAN!) but I wonder it there's a company that makes something similar for plates? I mean you can buy the front tow hook for the C6 vette but it's a PITA to mount because you have to take the front bumper off but if they can make a front tow hook then someone should make a front license plate bracket the same way...

I have this one. I had it on my '06, but now it's on my '12. It's the manual stow-n-go. Sits about 5" from the ground. Nice for cruises and shows because I can hide the plate... I think it was $52. I modified it to mount in the middle.
Alaska requires front plate, but has no registration tags on them. Dumbest damned law I can think of, so I have RPI remote control mount. Hides under car on open road and in city it's displayed. Sometimes.
Here in So Cal I just don't have the front plate on and never get bothered by the sheriff, which is interesting because when I drove a ricer in my younger days they would pull me over FOR ANY AND EVERYTHING! I guess they just leave American super cars alone...
Welcome to TX and the $200 fine for no front plate. Not the bracket I have on my GS but one of the nice looking ones. Many many choices from vendors check out their pictures find one you like buy install then shop for tires and repeat often.
The Top Flight Reproductions C6 front license plate bracket is the best looking mount available. It follows the contour of the front bumper. Installs easily without lifting the car. Requires no drilling for attachment like some others do. Our bracket is priced considerably lower than other after market solutions and is made in the USA .
I thought Texas was the place of liberty ? How come you didnt fight this new law? Sounds like they slipped this in the night when you were sleeping. Thats how they pass these !
Beware of this Texas law: http://legiscan.com/TX/text/SB1757/id/827300
Different people define it different ways, and it was aimed at plate flippers, but it could apply to the show n go. I'll have to look it up when I get back home.

I got stopped within the first week of owning my C6. The TF bracket had just come in the mail the same day I got stopped. I had the bracket in car so I only got a warning.

Texas passed the front plate law a while back.... only they didnt put a fine attached to the bill. So DPS could stop ya for no front plate give ya a warning or find more to make them green backs. Sept 2013 they passed the law that a $200 fine would be collected for no front plate. The DPS jumped the median no radar just saw an easy probable cause. He was cool gave me a warning and let me take a picture. Told him it never happed unless a picture is posted on the forum. The picture below was before Sept 2013.[IMG][/IMG]Now that fine is around I have installed my front plate in picture below
[IMG][/IMG] now I just drive it, cant see the plate sitting when driving.
This is mine and it will stay until the car starts to over heat in Texas traffic. this has been fine with cool weather but I worry about the TFR blocking the air flow when it gets really hot.
PS: Found the black rubber frame at PEP Boys for $10. Most of the plastic frames will break when you bend them to fit.
Thanks for all the input. I finally decided to just use the MFG bracket. I chose to install it a bit lower than original and actually did drill 2 small holes to hold it strong. I did NOT like the original location and think it looks better a bit lower. Will try to post photos when it comes back from the shop for air problems.
