I pulled up behind a Tesla yesterday, wasn't paying any particular attention to it. Saw the driver peeping at me in his mirror, I thought he was admiring the Vette, you know how we get that all the time. The light changed, mind you I was still behind him, and this guy took off like a rocket!! I said to myself, dang! That sedan is fast!! Guy even had his wife and kids in the car. Ran a Google search on Tesla, dang thing is electric powered!!! Who knew?? Glad I didn't race him, he might have spanked me!!
I was going to a local corvette show about a month ago on a Saturday morning early like 7 am and blew by a guy in a red one on the freeway, the freeway was not very busy that morning and I was 300-400 yards ahead of him and next thing I see his him right on my rear bumper and then he decides to pull up next to me in the other lane, so I was cursing along at 70 at the time and figured if he is getting that aggressive he wants to play, so I shifted out of 6th into 5th and hit it,
they may be quick but they are no match for a LS7 , I was at least a 1/4 of mile ahead of that car in what seemed like just a few seconds, not sure how hard he was trying to keep up with me since I was gone so fast, but he sure surprised me when he pulled up behind me the first time, he was not going to even get close the second time.
Co worker got himself a Telsa earlier this year. P85 version and was demonstrating the great torque it has. That electric motor will get. So deceptive because of the lack of noise, but it moves. Lots of room in the car and very high tech. Nice car.
One of the cars will run out of extension cord
And the other will still sound strong.
Whine over growl that will be the day
No thanks.
Electric cars are great as long as you don't have to go anywhere that is far away. Also great as long as we don't get too many of them and have to dramatically improve our electric grid system. If every house had a Tesla or two in the garage hooked up to 240 electric all night, our grid system would be inadequate as it sits now.
You know after giving it more thought,i do believe that in the next 25 years all new cars will be either all electric or a combo of elec/internal combustion .Hopefully I will be dead by then. I like the mechanical-ness (if thats a word, lol) feel of an american made muscle car,I like banging gears, and hearing the engine wind out. Music to my ears. Although a huge fan of music, most times in my vette I just prefer the sound of "IT".

Probably true. But this is based on technological advances in batteries, solar generation, etc.
What if there aren't better batteries out there to be discovered?
If I only could have one car it would be the Tesla. My Corvette is a convertible that is not my daily driver. For a large sedan the performance, fit and finish is truly impressive.

I will write you a contract guaranteeing I will buy the stock from you for $400 per share any time you choose between now through 1/14/16. Today's opening price for that contract (100 share lots) will be $143.15 per share ($14,315 per contract plus commission).
For those who aren't good at math, that means if it does get to $400 I will end up keeping all the money as my profit. If it stays below $400 but above $256.85 I am guaranteed to keep part of the money over and above my cost to buy the stock for $400 and sell it at the then current price. If it is below $256.85 in Jan 2016 I start to lose money. I have a maximum loss of $25,685 if the company goes bankrupt and a maximum gain of $14,315 per contract. Hint, you can make a lot of money selling these contracts with not a lot of risk as long as you pick good companies that have little chance of going bankrupt.
BTW, if you want to save some money you can buy the same type of contract for only $122.25 but it expires this Friday. $21 for an extra 16 months would indicate the market agrees that the company has a bright future. Personally I disagree but I've learned over the years that what I think a company is worth means little compared to what the lemmings think. If the lemmings want to give me money, who am I to argue?
I was at the Maryhill Loops Road tour with the Audi Club last weekend. There were 2 Tesla's there. After the run group finished in the morning 1 of the Tesla's headed to the nearest charging station in The Dalles. I saw him coming back as I was heading home for the day.
I have a friend that owns one of the P85 cars. It is quick off the line. From what I read they are 4.2 sec. 0-60. So right in with the base model Corvette. At highway speeds they are no quieter in the cockpit than any other sedan.

Yup - a sedan that I can't hop into and drive to Santa Barbara and then back to the Bay Area on the same day is pretty much of no use to me!!
