Default Turn Signal Switch Problem

Symptom in my '07 is sometimes when I put on the right turn signal the high beams come on with it (along with the HB indicator). Most times it doesn't. Most annoying at nighttime obviously.

I suspect I need a new switch. Anyone else had this problem? Can anyone concur?

Dealer says $125 parts ( I can get $45 to my door) and $300 labor. Says you need to pull airbag and steering wheel.

I found https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ck-spring.html which looks fairly simple. Questions are does this take one deep enough to remove the switch and is it completely as safe as it appears to remove the bag (battery disconnected)?

It's the turn signal/multifunction switch. I found the OEM part on Amazon for about $30 and replaced it myself. It took me about 30 minutes to do the job. On my 05 it was NOT necessary to remove the steering wheel.
Here's another helpful link: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...l-problem.html

I've not yet read that, but thanks Again the search function on this site makes one look like an idiot. Trust me, I did try to find it

Edit: After reading that post, it really pisses me off that the service writer at the dealership says the bag and wheel have to be pulled. Basically trying to scare someone to bringing the car in I suppose. It's not surprising that they always live up to the low expectation we have of them.
