Jroseman.......those look great! Well done indeed...... I have a 15 year old shot of Paps for you at the bar..... a GS needs war paint as Hammy used to call them...... it makes us more special then we already are.

Thanks for sending Dawn over with the parts Ruxy...... while she was here I ordered a bunch of other stuff I did not need so she will be back.......soon.....also give that Chadwick's a try it is so easy to use and it will make your car shine like no other..... less work more shine.....go to their website and read all about it......

Got Lola and Layla in the drive way this morning. We are putting more lights on Lola.....and other cool things. Pics at 11 pm.......

Official nap time will be 1pm today GS'ers......since each barcalounger has its own TV now we will have the race at Le Mans running for 24 hours.....or baseball or the Open is in Wisconsin this weekend I hear........

That reminds me of some absolutely gorgeous gals who worked in outside sales for several industrial supply companies. They concentrated on small companies where it was usually the owner making purchases instead of a bean counter. The work interruptions became the best part of any day.
Ah, the memories.

I wrapped my starter with a heat shield when I installed my headers.

Where did you get the heat shield or did you make it out of some old tinfoil....? No car can go 205 in the half mile.......without the driver wearing a G suit........or a g string...... I'm ok with 205 in the mile though.....

So like that is 410 in the mile then...... very nice!

Not a bad starter, just a bad (cracked) solenoid from overtightening the cable. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-to-start.html

I can replace mine with the headers (LG Streets) in place. YMMV

I know the work you have done, are doing, and will do before the weekend is out and...congrats. It's folks like you that make it happen.

had a newscaster doing a video of my car on Facebook Live, then sitting in it and trying how to figure out how to start it.............

now tell me you wouldn't fidget too...................

had no clue what the pedal on the left was for............

my daughter will get me that video, as those who have seen it say the car looks good, I am in it, and you can hear me tell him how to start it and what a clutch pedal is........

just got in, had a record turnout for our show............. jammed the venue full of Vettes, about 175 total cars with a lot of C1's and C5's making up the majority............by a lot, at least 10 C1's and 20 C5's in stock classes with all the rest split among the C2, C3,C4 generations, and more C7's than C6's in attendance................ had about 25 Camaros as special marque cars due to the 50th Anniversary of that model included in the 175 number....
weather was warm, humid and no rain, although cloudy for a while which helped from being burnt to a crisp..........

on another note.................. was asked for a price on my 427..........

gave him a typical GS'er response style number and he didn't seem to fazed.............. maybe he too has more dollars than sense...
so possibly more to come on this....................

My personal recommendation is to not use Dawn or any dish soap. Dish soap is, by design, an agent to cut thru various oils and can, over time, strip your cars paint of essential elements. I learned this many years ago when i had my `71 coupe repainted in it's original Nevada Silver. Not knowing any better, I always washed that Corvette with whatever dish soap I had in the kitchen. I would usually wax that car with Turtle Wax two or three times per year, not realizing that every time I washed I was removing the wax. Within a year I had a splotchy, chalky white paint. Conversations with the painter convinced me that I had done the damage by using dish soap. Granted, this was an extreme situation, but it led me to research milder automotive soaps.
It is my opinion that use of a modern clay bar will remove contaminants AND the majority of previous waxes or sealants. After claying you can move right to polishing or your favorite wax or sealant.

Rux - you might also go to Griot's shop and retail store and talk with some of the experts there. They can explain the entire process so much better than I can.

Thanks for the insight. Until recently I volunteered at Lemay America's Car Museum and Griots products were used exclusively. We never used anything but automotive soap and then clayed.
I wanted to get the opinion of some Vette experts, such as you.
Thanks.

Ruxxy, the advice Duckvette posted is absolutely the best and safest way to get your car cleaned and prepped. If you need to polish to remove and small scratches or swirls the polishing will also remove any of the older wax or sealant which was applied previously.
