I had Safelite replace my rear windshield on my CTS (HUGE piece of glass) and had no issues with them. But there's another thread on here where someone had them do work on their Vette windshield and had problems. It's a toss up. But dealerships just call the national chains anyhow, so I'd just go ahead and cut out the middle man and go straight to the chain.
Most dealerships just call an outside glass company to do the work. I have been very happy with Safelite.
When these threads come up it just makes my head spin with all the misinformation. I could go on and on about this but my explanation would be too long for everyone to read. I will say this. Google review whoever you use including Safelite. You might just change your mind about them and who you might consider.
Check with your insurance agent and see if they have any recommended installers they deal with. I can ask my wife if they have any favorite installers at the agency she works at if you like.
Yes, I'd like to hear any recommendations. Thanks Randy.

What misinformation? Most of us, including myself, are relating our experiences. My experience was with Safelite and I was happy both times.
Safelite put a windshield in my Porsche 944 about 5 years ago. They did just about THE WORST job ever. I was watching the guy glue the windshield over the alignment blocks, instead of along side them. I was so upset...he had to use a ton of sealant to close the huge gap.
I sued Safelite, but instead of going to court, I went to Mexico for the winter...and it still bothers me to this day.
It all depends on the worker/installer...but if you ask me...GO TO A SMALL glass installer. The small shops are much more careful who they hire.
Insurance (I had Nationwide) will only pay the difference after the deductable. My glass was $545 and I had a $500 deductable, so i didn't bother with insurance. Plus they only accepted Safelite.
I know it is a state to state thing but in my state (NY) we can add full glass @ $0 deductible for really cheap, around $20 a year per car as long as you have full coverage (no liability only).
I have to get my windshield replaced and I don't even know where to start! Do you recommend national chains, GM dealers?
I tried posting on the regional board but got ZERO response: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...apolis-mn.html
ANY help is appreciated.....
06 Coupe, non HUD. Minneapolis Area.
The way I did it on mine was called the biggest Chevy Dealer in a reasonable area that I thought sells the most Corvettes and asked who did their glass work. From there I told GEICO who I wanted and that I wanted AP Technoglass and they agreed to the glass and worked with the glass guys. Told them I didn't want to use after market glass because of the HUD issues (noting you don't have the HUD). The folks that put it in knew exactly what to order and how to install it and not one issue so far (just had it done a week ago). I felt confident the shop had Corvette experience, not saying it's especially needed, but it made me feel better they had it.
