Chevy needs to spruce up their manual image. Something like a title of, "National Enquirer" All the dirt on your new vehicle. Then they could include a pair of his and her manuals with each vehicle sold. His would have scantly clad women on the cover and hers would have some beef cake boys with ripped abs to start off the manual experience.

Make that 5% of the fun. :-)

we flew to anchorage right after I bought my C6. I took the manual on the plane with me and read all about my new car on that 8+ hour flight.

Other than the fact that the salesperson explained the emergency release to both of us and that my wife never read the manual, I just asked her what she would do in that situation. Her response was to pull the latch on the floor, so I asked what if that didn't work. Without hesitation, she said open the top. Now I just hope she can remember that after she turns 72 next year, when she's in the car and I pull the battery cable off and walk away.

Back to the 72 year-old guy and his dog.

After he sat in the Waffle House for a few hours, he remembered the dog was still in the car. When he went back to the car, the dog he dearly loved had already died. After a period of shock, remorse, and mourning the dog, then panic set in and when he couldn't get out immediately, he either had a heart attack or just gave up on life.

The media no longer reports the news, they do everything possible to sensationalize every detail and make up things they can't confirm, so I decided to make up my own version.

BTW, how many of us ever bothered to check if there was an OM in a rental car, let alone read it?

Those same people post saying they are locked out of their car because of a dead battery! Or they are stuck in a parking lot because the fob battery died! Really?
If they read the manual they would know you use your key to open the trunk and release the drivers door. In addition, if fob battery is dead, you can insert it in the fob slot in the glove box and still drive the car! No reason you can't deal with either situation. Only difference is if the car battery is dead, you need a jump.
This is a great post, especially for the owners who haven't read the manual. Thanks for posting this.....

The main reason I started this thread was to remind owners that do know about the handles, to teach other passengers (especially spouses or significant others) about them. If someone reading this post learns of the handles for the first time, all the better.

After I started this thread I asked my wife if she would know how to get out of our car if the battery was dead and the doors wouldn't open and she said, well yeah, the handles by the seat.
