Grand Sport Side Fenders (Ugly Gills)

Those gills represent Grand Sport...why not go buy a Z06 instead if the gills disturb you that much? If you cover them up then you will look like a loser wanna be z06 fan boy...kinda like a wide body kit or a c6 to c7 headlight conversion..

Yeah, no doubt he just wanted to rattle the cage of GS owners...lol. I've been on here too long now to let those type comments bother me. I just answer a stupid question with a stupid reply...thats all it deserves!

Has anyone thought about removing the 4 round taillights on the GS, gluing on a pair of the C7 tailights, and filling it in with Bondo ?? Would that be like a C7 GS ??

I have heard the comment at car shows. Regular folks don't notice the wide body or the wide tires. They see the gills and want to know what that's for? Only Corvette people know what a GS is and nobody else cares.

There is no amount of glopping on mud to make the gills disappear. As others have pointed out, it would be cheaper to just source Z06 fenders. In my experience, besides the removable roof, the gills were an important stylistic cue why I chose a GS instead.

wow, your way or no way here. OP, if your serious and maybe do not want to dish out the coin for new fenders.
Go to a body shop and inquire on what they could do, make it your own. Someone else on here don't like it, who cares. It's your car, as long as you like it is what counts.

Silly Putty is close to $37 per pound according to the latest Standard and Poors estimate on Silly Putty futures. I personally recommend paper marche' as an alternative to gill obfuscation. It would suffice perfectly unless there's rain.

I suggest you try that with your AMT 3-in-1 C6 model kit. When you're done you can take some real life looking pictures and people will think you really have a car.

I too love the GS gills. I also like the ZR1 variation. Compared to them, the vents on my Z06 do look rather plain. But it sure doesn't look like a base corvette. The flared fenders and wide stance of a Z or GS are unmistakably different than a base model.

Put orange LED lights in the gills, connect them to your accelerator pedal and as you rev it up the lights will get brighter, looking like flames. That would be cool to see at night.
