Never, Ever Remotely Start Your Corvette in Gear!
A remote start plus a C6 Corvette in first gear plus a deserted country road plus a video camera equals big trouble.

That remote starter is pretty smooth starting off with that clutch!

What a horrible way to gain views lol
I'm disappointed kleib. I actually had an older corolla 5spd with a remote start and one time the car did start when the keys were in my pocket. The car launched foward and thank god all it hit was some bushes. Whoever installed the system was a complete idiot and thank god that never happened where it could have hit someone or something.

That's a BIG YES !! Even having remote start capability in a car equipped with a manual transmission is a very very poor idea .

This is why the C7 has remote start only available on the Auto. (yes the video is a hoax).

Melting Slicks
My friend purchased a built up mustang a few years back, he had an alarm system installed with remote start. I told him that I would remove the remote start function and hook his clutch switch back up, he declined.
Fast forward two months.
He is in a rush, his car is parked in the driveway with the garage door closed.
He runs downstairs (Late for a dinner date with his girlfriend.) while pushing the start button on his remote.
He then hears some loud sounds, but is unsure of what it was.
His car was in second gear, it ran halfway through the garage door. The garage door hit the new tires he just purchased for his mustang.
The tires rolled fast enough to knock his Ducati over.
He let me remove the remote start after that!

If the car is moving, the car might be able to calculate which gear is engaged by the ratio of engine speed and MPH, but obviously this won't work if the car is stationary.

You would need to put a micro switch at the base of the shifter in the shifter box to indicate neutral, then this could be put in the line of code as a digital input along with the switch for the handbrake for the start function.
I still wouldn't do it if it were me.
