Going Commando
I know this has been done with many C5's, and I even did it with my own, but I haven't seen any C6's going commando like their older sisters.
What I am referring to is removing the black hood liner so the hood is left bare.
Have any of you done this, and if so, do you have any pics, as well as tips or tricks on removal and/or cleanup?
I know this looked great when I removed the liner from my C5, but wanted to check before I started pulling the one off of my C6.

I changed my hood to a cf hood. On the stock one, I took the liner off and it's just bare underneath but clean. Removal is simple - just pop out the plastic clips. Just be careful not to break them because they are slightly fragile.

Takes 3 minutes. Just pull all the plastic retainers and the liner will fall right off.
If I recall, there was some decals or pieces of tape that were on the underside before going to paint shop...so if you removed them it might not look good.

I've been to Corvette car shows where the owners had painted images on the inside of the hood. I can't imagine it's practical for the DD group.

Going Commando
I am still trying to figure out what "Going Commando" has to do with removing the underside hood liner ? ?
What's the correlation between the two ? ?
confused ...

Mine was removed long time ago, no issues. No effect on decal durability

Removal of a clothing type item, going bare under the hood.
Not really a hard stretch of the imagination, even for this 68 yr old.

What did the hood look like underneath when the liner was first removed?

I just found the post when I replaced my hood with the cf. Here is a pic of the bare underside.

That doesn't look bad at all. Would just need a little Goo Gone for the stickers and the underside would look pretty clean. Thanks for that pic.

Just like what you see, clean, no decals, no GM labels. Was not dirty, or oily, etc. I've saved the liner in case I want to do something with it later or sell the car.

Does the underside area that was covered by the liner have a clear coat finish, or is it bare paint? It's hard to tell by the pics I've seen so far.

The liner is put there to extinguish an engine fire no?
