Default Homelink or car2u

Just put in a new craftsman garage door opener which no longer works with my visor remote. I know I need a bridge but don't know what system I have. My car is an 06, the manual says its a universal remote. The symbol on the visor looks to be homelink but need confirmation. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, 2006 models had Homelink.

Homelink can be identified by 1 LED over the center button on the visor.

Here's an old thread with some programming tips:

I fought mine for a long time, until I tried the middle button on the home link on the visor, it works great...

Thanks for the info, good news to me. I only have to buy one repeater for both my cars now. Yeah, the middle button is the one I used with the previous opener.

I have a GS '12 and the remote on the visor (oem) works fine. Just follow the directions for programing. Make sure you clear previous codes. Very

I have a '13 GS and the Car2U was not compatible with the new Chamberlain wifi garage door opener I just purchased. Had to get the Car2U repeater. Had to get the Homelink repeater for my wife's '12 Elantra and daughter's '13 Accent. Gave my son one of the supplied "clickers' for his 2006 Matrix. Funny thing was I bought a junker Homelink visor from which I removed the guts to transplant into the ceiling of my '15 Dart. Had no idea the year of the old visor that I received but it works the new unit without a repeater. Go figure. The new garage door opener has a battery backup so it is operable during a blackout. However, if you need a repeater [which requires a/c] then this feature is useless during a blackout. D'oh...

Simple way to to tell. Homelink has 1 LED, Car2U has 3.

If it's a massive PITA and doesn't program right away, it's likely a Car2U. You will need a repeater for about $25 if so.
