Default C6 metal body panels?

Does the C6s really have a metal rear fenders? Below is from the following link.
http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/vem...ody-materials/
"Although the C5 and C6 generations share basic chassis layouts, the C6 brought additional changes in the quest for reduced weight, not the least of which was the elimination of the Corvette's trademark retractable headlamps in favor of simpler, lighter-weight fixed units. The plastic-intensive SMC body panels remained, although surprisingly, the rear fenders were made of conventional steel. That's right--steel fenders on a Corvette. It was a first."

None of the C5 or C6 body panels are steel. All are SMC on the C5 and SMC and carbon fiber on the C6.

That. article has its facts wrong.

That article has been wrong for years. I guess at this point no one will take the time to go back and correct it.

You can check it ... simply take a magnet out and see if it sticks to the rear panels.

Magnet won't stick to mine - must be a defective magnet.
