not meant to stray from main topic. if or when someones try's to steal the vette how or what does the alarm do. does it shut down any systems....

I don't think it needs to shut down any systems because no way will the car start without the fob.

The alarm sounds for ~ thirty seconds and shuts off to avoid excessive battery drain.

OK, I got some time to look at it today, as EV mentioned I must have switched the FOB's from #1 to #2 at some time. I went in and out of the car with FOB #1 and the car locked and the lights flashed after a few seconds. Didn't do it with FOB #2. Using DD Vettes post I reset both FOB's to auto lock as I walk away, I prefer the auto-lock. Thanks to EV, DD and all the other posters...

I use the bypass method in the garage. Stays unlocked in the garage and cycles back to auto lock as soon as the ignition is cycled.

That is correct. The doors will remain unlocked until you cycle the ignition again.

Still waiting for the pictures.

While we wait, I hate cars beeping their horns all the time but I have mine set to autolock and sound the horn as I don't trust it. Nice to learn that I can manually lock it within 8 seconds and it won't sound the horn.
