I would like reccomendations on a replacement radio for my 2009 vette - I have the Bose system. I would like to be able to have a backup camera as well as bluetooth for phone and USB port.
Any recommendations will be appreciated. Also any tips on installation.
Wally
I would go to the audio section of the forum and send Dennis at DD Mods a msg. He can tell you which is the best way to go for the budget you want to spend.
Thanks for the info. Is there a brand preference?
Wally
The two brands that are probably the most popular and recommended the most are Pioneer and Kenwood. My vote is for Pioneer! The Pioneer 4200Nex and 8200Nex are two popular choices. A lot depends on your budget and if you want built in navigation. Other things to consider are installation costs. Wiring harnesses and other install hardware will add about another $150-200 to the cost, and then you need to decide if you want to install it yourself or have a professional do it.
I'm another that installed & like the Kenwood. Primary reason is I like the NAV in the Kenwood over the Pioneer; other then that, the options and sound quality are about equal IMO
I would check crutchfield..they can set you up with plug in harnesses and trim...no wire connectors etc.
not exactly true
they can sell you the harness which still needs to be wired to the radio of choice
i however sell everything prewired for our customers.
For the most part you can plug into radio and into the car album accsy power and iit will work
there is one wire connection into the car
plus by mic needs to be placed.
As mentioned above

Thank you Dennis, I'm trying to find a place to install the radio, after I do, I'll be contacting you. Wally

Not if it's just a head unit only. Don't know where you came up with that.

Corvette Ed, it sounds like maybe you bought a radio bundle from Double D which included the radio and all the wiring harness and hardware at a set price. But just for arguments sake, I just installed the Pioneer 8200 about a week ago, and here is a list of the items I had to buy separately to complete the install.
1:Pac RP5-GM11 harness $100-$130 depending on retailer (Best Buy sells them for $130)
2:Metra GM kit $10-15
3:SiriusXM tuner $35-55
4:SirusXM antenna extension cable $13-35
Additional items to consider would be backup camera and of course tax depending on your state of residence. I paid about $175 for all the items listed (including $17 for a backup camera) in addition to the price of the radio. Bare minimum, you can skip the Sirius tuner and back up camera, but you would still be looking at $110+.
