Frankie , you want to go with the catted pipe , for the few horses you might gain with a non catted pipe is not worth the GAS smell you will have to deal with while idling . I still get some gas smell even with the catted pipes until they heat up because it takes them longer to heat being located farther away from the engine but nowhere near the smell you get without them

I am definitely planning to go with a catted x pipe with the LGs after talking with you and a couple others. I was just curious how it affected sound since the OP said it was much different. I would imagine it would be louder, but I also heard it can be a bit raspier. My main issue is definitely the smell. My friend has a 5.0 with an off road x pipe and it absolutely reeks of gas.

Knew you would love the sound! I agree, wouldn't want to install these without a lift. I know people do it all the time but a lift makes it so much easier. My CEL didn't come on till around 80 miles or so. Didn't get real crazy with any WOT runs till I had my tune done. Good job on the install and enjoy.
Congrats of getting that long-awaited project underway. Now once you've got the mechanical part done, it's only a short wait for the tune.
The pain will fade, but the feeling of self accomplishment will stay forever.
A 10 hour job takes me 9 days. I work for 2 hours, then recover the next whole day in preparation for the next 2 hours of work. I think a lift might make it a 6 hour job over 3 days.
