Thank you !!
now that you mention trunk key dirty,,that makes sense shortly before
this problem started I tried reprogramming a FOB that wasn't working
using trunk key procedure (ended up being a battery in FOB was put in upside down at place I bought car) but I had noticed key was tight and took several attempts with key to activate program fob mode
would you recommend a contact cleaner (or does key switch need to be removed) I greatly appreciate you help..

WD40 is not a lubricant. It becomes sticky when it dries; you'd be better off using a graphite or silicone lubricant.

My car did this same thing and it was the button it gets stuck and makes the relay inside the car behind the radio go nuts i dont think the key lock has anything to do with the relay

Now this one got me wondering! Are you talking about the button located at the back (outside). Mine needs a clean. How can that affect the relay chatter inside?

Yes the little black button it's the trunk relese and it must pull power from the brake light because if it gets dirty or stuck it makes the brake light relay behind your radio go nuts it will keep clicking even when your not applying the brake but if you only hear the clicking when you start your car or applying the brake and your trunk button works your fine

Hello
Thanks very much for the info. pulled out hatch release switch as you said it was loaded with dust and button/plunger was stiff also pulled apart
contact portion of switch and cleaned that.. reassembled and back in car
NO MORE CHATTER IN DASH other than initial startup which is normal
it is back to sounding like a normal car again..https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...es/cheers2.gif Thanks AGAIN !!

Freaking cool

Looking in the service manual the thing doing the clicking is called the RCDLR. Remote Control Door Lock Reciever. I never thought about it but it stands to reason it does its thing when you push the trunk release button. And dahh, I never hear the ticking standing outside the car.

The gummed up button kept the receiver searching for the fob. Tickiddy tic tic,,tic,,,,,,,

You sorted out your issue for literally nothing.

I think the receiver also looks for the fob when the drivers door gets closed.
