Default Help Needed

I had to remove the console, radio surround to access the shifter to replace the cable grommet the other day and now I cannot get the forward trim piece back on and properly and it appears to be a missing trim piece for the rear side of the console/E-Brake boot.
Because the car was in the garage and tight on the passengers side I had to remove everything from the drivers seat. I did not remove the piece I am asking about, but I don't remember seeing what is shown in the pictures before and I am inside the car cleaning and dressing the interior a lot, so I would have noticed it before I would think. It must cover the little clips on the E-Brake boot.
I believe this area is different in the 2008 and up. This is on on a 2007, so if anyone with an '05-07 could look and see what they have and maybe attach a picture that would help. I have looked at Gene's site for parts and I cannot find anything that refers to this area.

It's a trim piece that extends from the back of the ebrake assembly all the way to the dash. All years are the same.

Your console is not all the way forward and down like it should be, or is this a "not yet done" foto? I'm thinking get the console where it should be and the ebrake boot right and it should be complete.

The e-brake boot has to be turned 180 degrees so that the clips on the bottom of the e-brake boot fit in those slots on the side of the console.

There is a cashmere trim piece that goes there.
Here is a pic of my old 06.

Might have slid off between passenger seat and torque tube hump.

Actually the front trim piece goes from the side of the glove box back to the front of the e-brake handle and boot, it is not a one piece item. There are to small screw/bolts the attach the trim piece to the console. you can see one of the locations of the bolt just in front of the handle it is the the little brass showing.

Interesting, as my 2006 does not have a separate trim piece. The lower plastic piece that fits there is covered in the brake boot leather and is part of the e-brake boot.
Has that changed over the years?

Looks like LV2 is right. The boot is on backwards or the piece inside the boot is missing. I just took this of my 05.

Well I never noticed this gap or missing piece before, and I have not removed the boot from the e-brake handle in the 4 years I have owned the car. I will do some more research and see what I come up with.

Try looking in the How-To section here on the Forum. There are lots of articles that involve removing the center console. Good luck!

rotate the leather portion around so the silver metal clips are towards the console cove, and it will fit right in. There is nothing missing from what i can see, unless GM has made drastic changes to the e-brake which I don't think is the case.

This pic shows the radio surround console side piece holding bolts(2) when the e-brake boot is lifted to get access.

Good luck and report back

I'm seeing the same thing you are. Not sure why this is getting so over complicated. You can see the clips and the slots they fit into.

Rotate the ebrake boot front to back and you will be set....but you are also missing one of the bolts in the side of your upper cover.

The metal clips on your ebrake boot slide into the slots
