So in summation the C7 is not driver friendly but performs well.

About what I expected from the get go after seeing one in person.

Sounds like a nice honest review.

I share your styling analysis and your initial and later reactions to the C7. I liked the mechanical improvements and the look of the interior but the exterior really ticked me off plus I couldn't get comfortable in the car. Over time I came to accept the styling (but only in certain colors that minimized all of the black accents!) and sat in some 2015+ cars that actually fit me. When the new GS came out I found myself wanting one but I haven't pulled the trigger....yet. If I can find a way to add a bit of tasteful bling to the interior of my 2011 GS I'd probably just hang on to it.

Thanks for the review

nice write-up. Much better than some C7 owners that can't seem to find one negative thing about their car. Seems fair and balanced (like FOX news)

Congratulations on the new car Jim! Thanks for sharing your impressions, I hope the interior differences are adjustments you can make as you get used to the car. We've been talking about doing something similar, but I like my GS too much to trade it and we just picked up a brand new Yukon so it'll be awhile yet. You should do a Spring Mountain trip to see what it will do!

It's too red, need way more black, or better yet Lemans Blue! Oooh oooh be still my heart!

Great write up, well written! Thanks for sharing your impressions, much appreciated and enjoyed reading what you wrote.

How does your wife, or you as a passenger, like the view from the passenger seat with the center stack/radio/heater/AC etc angling towards the driver??

I'll be scheduling it just as soon as they post the 2018 dates.

At first, the setup feels intrusive and even isolationistic to the passenger. After a few minutes, we got used to it. That aspect seems to be working out better than we expected.

Hi Jim
Glad to see you back in the C6 forum for a moment. I had to chuckle about the proctologist remark. Only gynecologists use 2 fingers, so check the sign on the office you visit next time.

When the wife says "buy it", never question that. My wife just loved there were 2 handles in a C7 for the passenger to hold, but "buy it" never left her lips.

Hope to see you in AZ again or in your part of the Country during our travels.

Jim, thanks for the write up. Keep us updated as you rack up time and miles with that beautiful C7.

Wishing you a better run with this one, you deserve it.

I have no doubt that I would be in a C7 now if I was still driving either my 05 or 06 C6. But my 07 has been a great car. Yes there have been problems but not many in 10 years. I can hardly believe I am writing this as I have never kept a car much over 2 years before.

Hope you have found one you want to drive as I have.

A gynecologist can enjoy working in tight spaces; a proctologist, not so much.

We'll be back, looking forward to lunches and cruises.

Thanks for the photos Jim. Is the color on your car the same as the crystal red on my C6, with a new name? Or is it a completely different color? Either way, it's a great looking car!

Yes, same question came to my mind?

Thanks Jim, for the honest review.

The Long Beach Red on our car is not Crystal Red under another name, Crystal Red has more red in it than ours. If I had both of those to choose from on a C7, not sure which one I'd take. On a C6, I'd definitely take the Crystal Red.
Ours changes considerably depending on the lighting.
Inside our garage, it's simply Maroon.
Outside on a cloudy day, it's more of a slightly metallic Bronze.
Outside on a sunny day, it's a very metallic Red/Bronze combination.

The closest Corvette color I've seen is the 2003 Anniversary Red, but ours seems to have a bit more metallic. Or maybe it's just newer.

It would not be my pick on a C5 or C6, but we needed something to tone down that overwrought styling and not contrast with the excessive exterior black on the car, so this was the best choice for us.

YMMV

The wife's been making noises about buying a "bumble bee" a yellow C7 GS. I may have to, then I'll have two.

HOXXOH, what do you think of the drive down through Tonopah? I'm planning to head that way after visiting some friend in Bend Oregon..

I assume you mean Tonopah, NV on US 95. Never been that way, but it's how I plan to get from Vegas to Reno next week.

Tonopah, is out in the middle of nowhere, or at least used to be. I made several jumps there in the early 80's on the old airfield.

BTW, LBR is the best of all Corvette reds, IMO, (and I've seen it with spice red interior and top, which makes it stunning) .

Thank you for your write up. I found it very interesting.

I've driven or ridden in 3 different C7s and found the A pillars to have become intrusive and block too much of the view. To me that was more bothersome than the styling issues.

Thank you for the comparison of the cargo capacity. I feel it's gone downward since the C5 and that was something I didn't get a chance to really look at during my rides.

I did get to drive the LBR of a generous member here on the PNW section of the forum and it is indeed a beautiful color!

Best of luck with the new car ... and I agree... your wife should be #1 and it should say thank you

Hey that's nuthin! On the GM truck forum there's a guy who says his 2008 Silverado sucked. He'll never buy another Chevy truck. His Silverado had 385,000 miles on it when he traded it in on a Ford
