Good luck, keep us posted.

It won't be cheap, depending on what exactly needs to be done. What color is it? Is it a tintcoat?

At the cost of the majority of the clear coat on that section.

Hair of the dog....

Kill and skin dog. Use its hair to polish the scratch using Dupont 7 polish. Then take the car to a body shop for a respray.

This will not only remove the scratch but prevent new scratches.

OK, plan C 1. This whole thing is screwing up my plan.
The plan was to put the car in storage until spring.
At that time the battery would be 8 years old.
I would change the battery when I pick up the car.

I thought it was a perfect plan. So much for thinking.

Now the plan is to clean the car and put it in storage.
And take care of it in the spring.
PS. I may jump right to plan D in the spring.
I have a friend who owns a car repair business,
I will ask him about it. (I was out to dinner with him, and others,
over the weekend and forgot to ask.)

My car had some fingernail-catching scratches on the door and fender from the previous owner. I took it to a local pinstriper who touched up the paint, sanded, filled again, polished and finished with clear coat. It took about 2 hours, charge was $120, I gave him $150. I also had a small pipe ding the front fender on the Harley, he mixed up the exact colors (it was right on the pinstripe so there was 2 colors involved) and touched it up and clear coated it, the ding is still there but hardly noticeable, charge $60. I cringed watching him take the buffer wheel to both vehicles but they both came out perfect. A good detailer should do the trick...good luck!

Done!
Took the car to Buffalo Car Care. (BCC) http://www.bccdetailing.com/.
Detailed inside and out. Scratches are gone.
I just couldn't wait until spring to get it done.
Thinking about it all winter would drive me nuts.
The car looks great.
Of course it rained on the way home.
A black car is beautiful when it's clean, but when it's dirty it's bad!
I will disconnect the battery(https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ovable-gs.html) and do what needs to be done waiting until spring.
But I will clean it up and put it in storage this week.
Thanks for the input.
Kliph
PS. Cost $700+

Good to hear!

You lucked out that the scratches weren't too deep to remove.

We could have a few weeks left til the salt trucks come out; I'm not putting mine away yet.

As close as there is to a 'miracle' scratch remover that I've found. It gets out scratches that I thought were permanent.
