Get yourself a pocket code reader.

Simple to use and you can read the codes yourself.

I've had my reader now for several years, I plug it in and start the car and it goes through the sequence of events and records the codes. You don't have to drive it. You can also clear the codes too, which is much easier that undoing the battery and resetting everything. Trust me!

The CEL could be anything. The Vette is not as bad as it's made out to be. My Mercedes is reading everything and then some. Over engineered as some people call it. If a bulb flinches it throws a CEL code.

Understand not wanting to take it out in the weather. It's made for dry weather.

Cold is not the issue. When I lived in NY my car was driven as often as possible in the winter sometimes in the mid to low teens.

GM does really good testing of these cars in arctic weather. Cold will not kill your Corvette.

However, cold can kill a battery that is old or otherwise not healthy. That might also set off a check engine light.
