I am confused, how in Gods name does a Ram pickup truck get in the way of a Corvette in Florida? I am asking because I also own a pickup & there is really no comparison...Lol
I know right, especially in Florida?
I'm in MD and have to admit I'm hooked on my RAM as well. I have my 2010 GS, a 2016 DD Hyundai and a 2017 RAM.
The Hyundai was my DD but I can't help but drive the RAM all the time. Love the pickup but I am so ready for nice weather to get back in my GS. Think I'll be selling the Hyundai this year.

Bucket seats, full console, single cab short bed, Hemi R/T , 22 in wheels from factory not your average people mover truck everyone is tooling around in. oh by the way only room for one passenger. do you see the similarity now. plus I haven't had to replace my splitter every time I go out. My GS is getting its new splitter and a front camera installed next week.
Vette is parked over the sprinkler head for under carriage rinse.

What I don't get is why anyone in the south has a 4WD pickup. What is the point?
If I didn't need one to get around here in the winter, I would have a 2WD and would use the money that I saved for something useful.

Look at the post with the 4x4 he is in Maryland my truck is a 2wheel drive hot rod. most people have 4x4 down here to go off road in the mud. the only off road my vehicles see is in the Garage.
I find the 2012 Grand Sport very practical because it's a hatchback. I've used it to haul lumber and bags of dirt, actually. It's so clean and has no scratches and looks better than new because I maintain it. Most comfortable car I've ever owned, even more-so than my electric Cadillac.
Here is my idea of "cool" trucks . . . lean and mean, maximum HP, minimal curb weight:
That's my idea of a cool pickup too if I had to have one.
I've been there done that with the lifted, big tire 4x4 thing (Full size Broncos, and Jeeps)
I'm just not into 4000-6000lbs of dead weight anymore, just for a couple hours off road on a weekend. Now I prefer something light, fast and can grip more than 1G on a corner.
Farm & ranch use, not to mention the occasional off-road fun.
Exactly. We have 6 acres and 3 horses and there are times when, if you didn't have 4wd, you'd be stuck in the mud....especially pulling a horse trailer or hay trailer. Heck, even wet grass and 2wd can be problem when pulling a trailer some times. I pull a 23' pontoon boat with my Raptor and have to put in 4WD when parking the boat as I back up a slight hill. 4WD helps to not tear up the yard and pasture too. And yes, an occasional trip on some old hunting roads and logging roads.
I bought my '08 a year ago this month with 24K on it, now it's just shy of 29K. I bought a 4 y.o. 911 back in '09 with 20K, now have 70K on that one. I'm eternally grateful to the previous owners for not putting very many miles my future cars, and absorbing the lion's share of the depreciation for me
I don't even drive mine on clear calm sunny days anymore. Crazy thing, I still want another vette. It's like fishing, gotta have more than one fishing pole.
Why not drive it when it's nice out? I get not driving in the snow/salt but when the weather is nice?

Why would anyone buy a 2WD pickup, what's the point?
My main reason for a 4WD pickup is for towing & launching my boat. There is a wooden ramp where I launch and there is NO traction on wet slimy under water wood. Got to have 4WD to pull her out. But there are a million other reasons for 4WD, snow is one of the least important. I've driven hundreds of thousands of miles in RWD sports cars in the snow, they go just fine with the right tires.
And anyone who thinks a 2 seat 436 HP coupe with 22.4 cu.ft. of cargo volume and gets 28 mpg is impractical just has their head on wrong.
I get some of you have so many toys that you just can't drive them all. If you are running out of space for any of them just send them on down.
Some of my friends have razzed me about buying a garage trophy or yard art when I bought my Corvette. I have to admit that when I was looking for a Vette and would see a 10 yo Corvette with 20k miles I had to ask why. Was it indeed just a garage trophy?
Having had my car a month now I understand. It is my second car not my daily driver. While it is fun to drive it is not as comfortable, nor as easy to get in/out of an my Raptor. I also don’t like to drive it in bad weather, snow, ice, salty roads and such. So I can see it being a low mileage car.
Anyway, garage trophy or not, I love it! I think driving it every day it would loose some of the excitement....like having sex every day. OK, maybe not such a good analogy.
Here is the key point: you have a 2nd vehicle which is also your daily driver. Me too, mine is a wrangler. Tell me if this sounds familiar: I don't like running domestic errands in my vette, i don't like driving in bad weather in my vette, i don't want to have to think "will i need a 3rd or 4th seat today?" while driving my vette.
We are probably the same, and if that makes my 2010 GS with 28k miles a garage queen, then that's what it is and i'm happy about it.
I think having a vette as your only car for commute, errands, trips to home depot, picking up the kiddos, etc. makes about as much sense as carving up a windy road at 60+ in 3rd gear..... in my wrangler.
Do your thing and take your friendly razzing with a smile (you know there is a twinge of jealousy in that razzing)

They're a lot cheaper and work just fine for most things. That's all I drove for 30 years.
But I know modern fads have swung against them. If you don't have a fully loaded 3-ton 4WD diesel today, you ain't crap. Haha, too bad I was never a fad follower -- it's much more fun ridiculing those who do.

BRAVO and well said. I get the biggest chuckle out of the guys that have these big ol diesel trucks and they are pulling a 800 # trailer with a couple a lawn mowers on it.....I can't imagine what kind of crap their girlfriends have to listen to when they start talking big truck talk....
