Thanks Telepiere - I'll try and keep the weekly updates going! We still got a few more projects to knock out before this thing is done.

In this video I tear apart the stock C6 Navigation head unit - and install a Navtool Backup Camera Integration Kit.

I always like the idea of seamlessly augmenting OEM equipment with added capability like you did here but I wonder if for the same amount of work it would have been better to add an APP radio, add the backup camera, and enjoy the power of Android or IPhone on your head unit: NAV, Back up camera, and all the other good stuff to include voice commands...

Back when..I went the Pioneer APP radio 2 but I think now they are at ver 3 or more.

What a great build thread, thanks for post. Pretty interesting you made it so far with the "fragile" 05 diff/torquetube. Makes me feel better. Can't wait to see the next step and a preview of all the navtool functions; i'd never heard of it before today!

I haven't seen much long term quality results with the Android Head units.

Honestly - I wasn't adding much functionality to the radio except for the backup camera.

I'm not a huge stereo guy - I don't use XM and I use my phone for navigation like 90% of the time.

Plus I use the radio just to cover up the extra vibrations.... LOL!

Ian - I honestly wasn't even aware of the issues of the 2005 diff until I discovered that with the smaller pulley and E85 - I made an additiional 120 ft lbs at the wheels. I started doing my research and had an "oh crap" moment. So I decided to start with beefing up the C6Z transaxle and all the bracing that I had installed.

If you are going to DD - I think the car will be fine on the 05 diff - and I only went to the drag strip a few times.

You start beating on the thing - I think it will break.

In this video I install a C7 backup camera onto my C6 Corvette.

I install a GM C7 Corvette backup camera on the car - and connect it to the Navtool Backup Kit that I installed in the last video.

Special thanks to ZEEEE 06 for the help on the wiring!

Nice job! Mind if we share the video so others can see what's involved with dropping the pan and doing this install?

Thanks!

You have a point in that the system is probably 80% reliable and for some that is too low.

I like for system engineering skills: don't need it don't install it :-)

We could both use a hug. Not a corvette but I get the feeling..Two weeks ago I tried to save my beloved 17 years old family van (yes corvette guys can love vans :-) especially when they have 4 "little corvette fans..

Water pump replacement, new heads and gaskets, new vacuum lines, and all liquids refills.

All systems seem a go for a full start up next morning.
Next Morning: Jump excitedly in the van. Turn crank, 2 seconds starts!! victory!... NO!! big clunk! water gushing.. I look at the thermometer.. 24F! just water no coolant (F!!!)... ice in block - block cracked - THE END.

Hang in there. I'll look for the stickers :-)

AND THANK YOU!

In this video I install an MSD 2 Step Launch Controller on the C6 Corvette!

I was having terrible consistency issues at the track - and wanted to improve my launches.

So I picked up the MSD 2 step - and got it installed.

The great work continues! So MSD 2 step...I have also seen your entry into the MOD for 2009 launch control...

Is this a. the same thing and b. would you recommend it for an 08 A6 that does not do 1/4 miles but likes to burn cars at the stop light... :-)

Thanks.

Hey Telepierre - my car didn't come with a performance launch mode - or performance traction management - so this really one of the only options I have.

The MSD basically is a rev limiter when the system is activated - it cuts fuel/spark and allows you to launch the car.

So in my car - when it is engaged - you push clutch in - rev it to the preset RPM on the MSD box - and when the light goes green - let go of the clutch pedal - and the car will launch at that preset RPM.

For an Auto - couldn't you just brake torque it using your left foot?

In this video I take the Corvette up to the local Xpel Paint Protection Film install - and get the new ZR1 hood wrapped.

I decided to get the hood wrapped to protect the hood paint - so that we can go out on the interstate and test out some of our new systems in the car.
