AC drains my gas

Speedy,
Your fuel economy isn't great, but I doubt it's all because of the A/C. 14.6 liters is roughly 3.85 U.S. gallons, and 100 km is 62 miles. So, that means you are getting about 16.1 mpg, which is on the low side unless it's all stop and go city driving. I'd wager your driving habits contribute to that number more so than the A/C compressor drag.
Every gas/diesel powered vehicle loses a little economy when you turn on an A/C compressor. The Corvette probably is less affected than most. As a reference my Grand Sport gets about 21mpg in city driving in the Phoenix summer.
Most Corvette owners aren't really concerned with trying to wring the last mpg out of the car. Drive it how you like, be cool and comfortable, and enjoy it. Having that performance at your right foot is worth the cost of fuel.

My wife & I did something under 6,000 mile round trip driving from Wisc. to Cali. and back home to Wisc. about a year ago. We used the ac quite a bit in our '08 A6 and got 27.8 mpg. No, i didn't take it easy. Had some triple digit speeds here and there.
Then again, the gearing you may have has something to do with it.

Actually, you can expect better than 24.7 on a long trip.

If you have never had the engine looked at, it may be time to replace plugs and wires. May not be an issue but since you are concerned about mileage, it's a good place to start.

At higher speeds, Ac will have less drag on the car with the windows up, then windows down and the AC off to cool you down.
As for slower speeds, Yes a/c compressor puts drag on the motor, so you gas mileage will go down.

Newer air conditioning compressors eat a lot less power to run. In my 1.4 turbo Cruze I don’t notice any better mpg with the AC off. 44.5 on my last trip to SC.

For me the "problem" turned out to be my right foot...which really isn't really a problem. On highway cruises I can EASILY get 25mpg...usually closer to 30 if I behave. On average though it's around 27-28. Very respectable for the fun factor.
