Vinyl hood/bumper stripes - gloss vs. brush
I am considering putting hood and rear bumper GT4 (with Jake Skull) stripes on my '10 GS. Those that have stripes, what is your opinion on going with brush(flat) finish vs. gloss finish stripes? The brush finish ones I'm looking at are more expensive. Mostly what I see is more of a flat finish, however, I know much is either what the car came with or personal preference. Anyhow, just want your opinion and how do you maintain them? My car is garage kept and not a daily driver.
Thanks in advance.

I have never heard them called "brush". To me, they are Matte. I like the gloss stripes on muscle cars, like the SS396. But, on the Vette, I like the matte much better. The only exception, for me, would be a white stripe, which would need to be gloss. Be sure to show us pics when done.

I don't know art is art.
Gloss black paint w/ matte stripes probably better than gloss stripes.
Yellow paint, a toss up, art is art.
FWIW Matte hoods, I believe, were originally designed to eliminate sun glare off the hood and reflecting into the driver's eyes.
Have fun and enjoy your decision.

I think that it depends on the color and if they are solid color or metallic. I think that a lot of the metallic stripes look better in gloss finish. The gloss stripes are also easier to take care of because you can actually wax over them where as the matte stripes need vinyl specific products applied to clean and protect them. Matte stripes do look good though. Show us the results when you decide!

The vendor calls them "brushed" sliver or "brushed black" as they have a brushed metal look but you are correct in that they are really a matte finish. He says the gloss ones are cheaper and have a longer warranty. If I go with gloss, the black and silver do have a metallic flake in them. My wife likes gloss and me and my son-n-law like the matte. I will probably choose to sleep inside and not with the car
Here's the pics of what I want. Not sure why the 2nd pic is so far down the page but don't know how to fix?
Thanks for your input,
Billy

I really love those stripes, and I think they would look much better in a gloss finish than matte. Fwiw, my stripes are a gloss silver metallic.

Now that I see how big the pattern is, I think gloss would be okay, as long as the yellow that is used in the stripe matches the yellow on your car. If it doesn't match, matte would be best, I think.

As requested via PM (can't post these in PM via my computer for some stupid reason only CF would know) here are some pics of my stripes:

Thanks for the pics Ed. Looks great!!! I agree...the gloss will most likely look the best.
Buckmeister2, the yellow is actually the actual car color underneath the stripes. The way they are cut kind of outlines the skull and stripes.
Thanks again for y'alls input.
