IIRC, you relocated to the Akron area. If you don't mind answering, which shop are you using? Sorry to hear about your loss, best of luck with the LS3!
I first thought you were going to say you have the LS7 427 with 505HP? A few of them had valve guide issues. You did say LS 2 built motor and not factory 427? Beautiful car. Good luck on getting back on the road.
I feel your pain....my 08 is in the shop as we speak with a LS3/480 getting installed as a replacement. At least I'll have a 2 year/50k mile warranty. Been a while...
You mean like how they changed "ft-lbs" to "lb-ft"??? That must have been a very complex mental exercise.
LOL.....and very well done. And lets not forget all the other silly little changes that are coming of age....not worth getting into anymore......it is what it is......

When I worked at Flowmaster Muffler I got to know Jim McFarland quite well. He explained to me that ft/lbs meant work had been performed, as opposed to the term "pound feet" meaning the potential to perform work. Meaning, if you try to push a boulder all day long and it never moves, you've in fact performed no "work". If the boulder DOES move, then you've performed work. I was also schooled by owner Ray Flugger that a "motor" is electric and an "engine" uses fuel. What can you say when great minds tell you things like this other than "yes sir"? So nothing was really "changed", it's just a matter of saying things correctly.

LOL....This sounds like your typical "I'm an expert" gibberish. First thing one has to do is define "fuel" in accordance to what it's going to "fuel". Gasoline fuels most of our cars. Pizza burgers and beer fuels our bodies....and I guess one could call electricity a "fuel" that a "motor" has to have to operate. So how would the experts explain that one.......Please help us Mr. Wizard......
Was driving home heard a tapping noise watched the oil compression drop and I knew what it was.
so now its at the shop pulling out the LS2 putting in an LS3.
Sorry to hear about this. Pics and info on forensic findings?
My mechanic suggested going with the LS3 so I ditched the LS2 and got a brand new LS3 and had a cam kit installed before the engine was put in. I also had the stock harmonic balancer replaced because I didn't want to deal with that 2 or 3 years from now.
