Can a remote start be installed on a 2006 C6 manual transmission and if so, which do you recommend? Also, is it difficult to install or would you recommend a dealer to install?
Anything is possible but not always practical. In this case I'd say forget about it. You would at least have to leave it in neutral and leave a fob in the car at all times.
Not sure about leaving a fob in the car, as I’ve had a few vehicles with remote start. I’d definitely have a dealer do the install, just drop off & pick up & it’s ready to go. I’d recommend Viper Smart Start, I have it tied into my phone & does much more than just start.

Do not think remote start can be added to manual trans at all
It is possible to do, but you will have to do it yourself. No reputable shop will install Remote Start on a manual transmission vehicle because of the liability. I thought I read about someone doing this to a Corvette, but it also required a Tech II to reprogram some things to make it happen.
How in the hell are you going to do a remote start on a manual trans, when common sense is that you leave the trans in Reverse when you park it?
So forget about the remote start having to bypass the clutch switch, and even having a fob as part of it, but what is going to take the car out of gear to allow it to start and the car not lunge in gear instead.
Also, leaving a manual car out of reverse when parked, relaying on the parking brake to keep it from moving when parked, it not common sense. Hence E brake cable or mechanism could break, allowing the car to free move isntead.

Yep, I think it is one of those cases of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should."
I had an 02 Z once that had remote start. There was a sequence to shutting the car and exiting it so it would remote start. Neutral obviously was one. Not sure how the installer did it, but was pretty cool to remote start a head, cammed, supercharged car!
Installing a remote start on a manual trans car is dangerous to say the least.
How would you be able to do this with the least bit of safety?
not at all I had this done on my Manual Vauxhall Calibra in the UK. I used a Clifford Inteli start system.. You would have to have the car running while you excited the car. Then shut the down and press the arm button.. The engine would then shut down.. The system would know it was in neutral as you had already opened the door and closed the door and armed the alarm.... So to do a remote start you just pressed two buttons on the Clifford remote and it would start the engine. If you had disarmed the car or somehow opened the door before disarming the alarm the car wouldn't start
Not advisable what so ever! Not even in your dreams.
The manual transmission is a huge no-no and let alone finding someone that would do it right. A coworker had a manual transmission car. She left it in 1st thinking she left it in neutral. It shot across the parking lot and hit a bunch of cars. Yes, an oh crap moment for sure!
I could not find anyone that would not splice the crap out of the wire on my automatic. Then you have a problem and then they have closed up shop. You're left with a huge mess. Life time warranty? Who's lifetime?
Skip the headache and start it the old fashion way!

I once did some computer work for a car shop that installed alarms, radios and stuff. They gave me a free remote start for my car. I was living in phoenix and thought it might be worthwhile to start the car a cool it down. I could never remember to turn the A/C on and the fan on high when I shut it off, so it did nothing when I remote started the car on hot afternoons. I thought about creating a checklist to turn everything on before shutting off the car, but never did. The shop would have people asking to install remote start in their manual cars, but they always said no.

Yep, I am bad for leaving the car in Neutral anyway, unless I am on an incline. I love my manual, but jealous of the new technology of remote start on new cars.
Yep...thats a hell of a remote start...works the gas pedal, clutch, and shifter....all from a fob, and evidently the steering wheel as it went straight. LOL!!!!!
