Startup yes as RedFred say's. My Radio is on within 5 seconds. Navigation takes a little bit. I have three factory Nav's Two Chevys and one Dodge Ram they all load the Nav very quickly. The Pioneer can take 10-20 seconds depends if the car is outside or in the garage.

And don’t forget to add a nice background. And I don’t mean a picture of your car.

My start up screen. One good thing about the Pioneer's is that they make it real easy to add a custom background and start up screen.

I use a very similar one. A bit darker with a bit of a carbon fiber look to the background.

fyi...that one is formatted for the 8200/8201NEX (and equivalent resolution). If you ended up with the 8400NEX I'm not sure if that one needs a different pixel width and height.

I like that Pioneer 8200, is there a speaker involved for using a phone hands free?

There is a microphone that comes with the 8200. I installed mine right next to the existing mic on the A pillar. With the RP5-GM11 interface and proper setup, steering wheel controls can be maintained. For speakers, the stereo speakers are used, but any music playing will be properly attenuated.

I assume the speaker wire can be hidden behind the A pillar trim. I'm in the early stages of researching the HU upgrade, I would want the steering wheel controls to work with both the Bluetooth and volume/channel change on the radio.

Right. The wire can run under the kick panel on the driver's side and then up into the A pillar behind the trim.

Did you have to do any modifications to make it fit? I am getting ready to purchase the 8400 in my 2013 427 vert.

If you look at the Pioneer web site under the fit guide the W8400 does not fit. You will need to remove a plastic mount inside the dash. It’s a square mount that a guide pin that sticks out of the back of the OE headunit. I remove it and added about two of niches of clearance. The cooling fan on the back of the W8400 sticks out about an inch and would hit that mount. So if you remove it you’ll have no problem.

I have had this in my 2011 for about a year and I am very happy with it. I highly recommend having a back up camera which is included with this package.
Good luck, there are any great options. Let your budget narrow down your choices.
