Default Stuff you found under the hood...

Found this on top of the radiator....

I think its a serpentine belt tool, used to lace the belt over/around the pulleys in the confined space of the belt drive.

No idea how long its been riding in there. It was under the shrouds that I pulled to vacuum the radiator and condenser clean. Nice tool.

So what sort of stuff have you found under the hood of your Corvette!?

On my personal cars I’ve been very fortunate but some of my customers haven’t been so lucky. Plenty of tools and old car parts. Grossest thing was a dead possum that had been in there awhile and came out in pieces. Scariest thing as a live snake. At my last shop we had an animal removal company who would come out and remove the dead animals. The customers would complain about the price and I’d tell them they’re welcome to do it themselves. They’d complain that our mechanics wouldn’t do it but I wouldn’t make them do anything I wouldn’t do and I wouldn’t do that.

FULL DISCLOSURE: Found a mouse nest in the cabin air filter 2nd day (the filter door was missing.) But no chewed wires, thank goodness. All good now.

Mouse nests....have to check it once a week all winter long, I've complained to Disney but they refuse to accept responsibility.

When I lived in Louisiana, I would always find mud dauber nests under the hood. It is a type of wasp that doesn't sting but they make a nest out of mud. These things are extremely industrious.

Back in the day my father worked for Chrysler and got 5-6 new cars a year to drive. They all would have to go to dealer for one thing or the other. I would always check under the hood afterwards and occasionally find tools left behind.

I have a major mice problem at my outside car storage area. The clutch was slipping once in a while and the car was driven only by me! I knew the clutch was in excellent shape and finally purchased a new clutch ,disc, and fly wheel for this Porshe Not having the time to change it out i sourced a wel;l know shop. When i brought the car in the owner says lets see how bad it is. He drove the car for an hour and said i do not want to take your money bring it home and have another drink. I insisted and told him replace every thing and he said okayyyyy. I sooner got home and the shop called and said come down and see what we found. The mice had taken off my hood insulation which looks like thread and laced the clutch fingers tight. I tried cutting the laced material out but it is just not happening . Those mice cost me $2.000.00 dollars

fake: OMG! That is way beyond any of my negative experiences with rodentia under the hood. Not to digress, but my gal rides a Ducati that got its wiring chewed and built a nest in the airbox. I was there for the cleanout.

She got ultrasonic mouse deterrent things that plug into the shop wall plugs. No problema since then, FYI.

Snap On 12" flat head screwdriver. Found that on my 1989 Mustang GT engine around 1992. Still have the screwdriver.

The cheap, easy way to solve a huge mouse problem -- see this post.

It’s a veterinarians castration tool, to use on mustangs once you’ve taken them to task
