E Brake Switch Adjustment
Installed a new leather E Brake boot and found it would not allow brake lever to move far enough forward to shut off brake idiot light, even after multiple attempts to stretch the leather.
Searching discloses same question was asked in 2011 and 2013, but 0 answers.
Time to try again: Has anyone successfully adjusted the parking brake idiot light switch? If so, any tips on how?
Thanks in advance!

Get the fold correct on the E brake boot, and you will not have this problem of the handle not coming back down all the way.

As for shifter and E brake, they are are a great deal apart, and should not cause problems with each other if the boots have been installed correctly, and the center console parts reinstalled correctly.
If you are having a problem with the shifter not shifting correctly, then you did not index the shifter correctly to start with. Hence shifter has to be locked into the neutral position with trans in neutral as well, rear couple locked on the shaft via is bolt with the box bolts about center'ish of the slots, then the box bolts torqued down last. The the trans box is unlocked from the neutral position.

Had the same problem when I installed a new e-brake boot, and like Dano said, the boot is just folded wrong. Mess around with the folds & you should get it to move more freely & go all the way down.
