Default Locked Inside

Weird event happened to me yesterday. Had pulled my 2010 GS out of the garage to run it for a few minutes. It's been a couple weeks since it was last started. After about 10 minutes I turned off the engine and proceeded to do a little clean up in the garage space. At the time, I had a BT headset on with my iPhone in my pocket. When I got into the car to start it up again I thought I heard (over the music) a loud crack or pop and then nothing. The engine didn't turn over and all lights on the dash went out. Repeated attempts to restart the car failed.

I'm wondering if it's just a fuse. Any suggestions? No luck using the search engine....

There is an emergency door release lever on the floor next to the seat. Get a new battery.

I guess you don't know about the manual door release on the floor in between the door and the seat?

Amazing.....

GM needed to make the release handle orange glow, I guess. Maybe with an artificial voice that yells "Here I am...Down here!"

Agree. How could you miss this unless you've never vacuumed your carpet.

You can't be serious

There are latches on the floor that open the door and you have a GS so its also a targa top..

I have a lady friend, who recently bought an 06 Z51 vert. She brought it over, and I specifically pointed out the manual door releases. Some time later, she told me she had gone out to the car, without her phone, and she got locked in. Eventually, the battery came back up enough to let her unlock it. It does happen to some!

Repeated attempts to restart the car failed. Then much to my surprise as I tried to exit the vehicle I could not. I maneuvered my 6'3" frame into the cargo area to see if I could release the rear hatch canopy. I pulled both cables (hatch and fuel filler door) but the hatch would not open as I attempted to push it up with the back of my head while pulling the cable release. I later learned that this release was not for the trunk but for the driver door. I also noticed a hint of rotten egg smell. Not sure if there was a correlation or not.

Several minutes went buy as I thought about what else I could do to exit the vehicle. Fortunately, I had my phone with me. I called the neighbor who came over and was able to open the driver door from the outside. With some additional help from my neighbor, his wife and daughter we were able to push the car back into the garage. I had to force the driver door to close because the window was all the way up where it usually drops a half inch until the door is closed. Using the physical key to open the trunk I attempted to reattach my battery tender to see if that would render anything. Nothing. So closed the trunk and at current state both doors are locked with no way of entering other than thru the trunk using the key.

I'm wondering if it's just a fuse. Any suggestions? No luck using the search engine....
Why do you think it would be a fuse instead of a dead battery?

had my car 7 years before I had to use it but knew exactly what to do and laughed at getting locked in

wife and I got in the car to go to the store, closed the door and the seat moved forward but it seemed really slow, I said "wow that was a slow ride" hit the button to start the car...nada...went to get out...no go...looked at the wife and said "EJECT!!!" she knew exactly what to do...spent the next hour fighting to get the ******* battery out of the hatch and changed our plans to go to the auto parts store

Common sense, I am sure any car with an electric door release would also have a manual release in case of power failure.

A friend of mine who supposedly has had 20+ Corvettes got locked into his C6 and had to call his SIL on his cell phone to get him out.

I suppose you could have meant that while you did get locked inside momentarily you were able to get out and are wondering if anyone here can help troubleshoot the reason it won't start and the 'loud pop' you may have heard. Yes? If so:
Have you had the battery tested, checked the battery connections or starter cable connections, looked in the fuse box on passenger side floor or under the hood yet?

I'm sure it'll be said I'm overcautious, but I always point out the location of the emergency release to any first-time passenger. Sort of like the lecture about the location of the life vest from the stewy in the rare event of a water landing. They always look at me with a wide-eyed WTF look, until I point out that no electricity = no electric door lock. No one has bailed prematurely (yet).
