Using my quick jack
Gents I am about to use my quick Jack for the first time and had a question. I want to put it up on the Jack to pull wheels for a tire change, change the oil and brakes. Can I just raise it up, let it down against the locks and disconnect the hoses? I want to leave it up for a week or so to get all this done. Is that do able?

Yes you can lower it on the jack locks for as long as you like. I'm assuming you are lifting on the pucks.
Open the oil drain plug and let the oil drip out for as long as you like.
Do you mean disconnect the brakes hoses and let them hang? Is that how you plan to drain the brake fluid? There are better ways to flush out brake fluid. And I never like to leave brake lines (and/or reservoir cover) off for very long since brake fluid attracts moisture and you don't want all that moisture in the brake system.

I'm just doing a pad change this time. I meant the hoses on the quick jack.

Yes, sir, you can disconnect the QJ hoses after you have the car up and resting against the "blocks". I had mine up like that for a couple of weeks doing the same thing you are about to do.
Make sure you follow the setup directions and bleed the QJ properly before first use. There are a lot of videos by QJ on youtube, which are helpful.

I’ll add a reminder to “hold” the “down” button pressed in for at least a 5 second count before you pop the disconnects on the QJ hoses. This drains most of the oil/fluid back into the QJ reservoir. Failing to perform this step can leave high pressure in the hoses which can make reconnecting the hoses very difficult later.

Which Quick Jack do you all recommend for? Would love to look into these. However, looking at some, they are pretty close in price to a full on garage lift. I take it is for the benefit of having them able to be moved around?

I got the BL-5000slx. If you sign up for their e-mail mailing list, they will send you info every time they run a promo which is every couple of months. I paid $1120 for the 5000slx shipped to my door with one of their promo codes. Still the jury is still out whether I will use it enough to justify the expense or not. There are more than a few threads on the QuickJack if you do a forum search, if you are interested.

5000 owner here and love it. With 8 cars in the fleet, counting the kids rides, it has made the shadetree mechanics, me, job so much simpler!!
As stated, plenty of threads here and videos on YT!

Make sure you check the 50lb air pressure in the cylinder(s). These are for letting the jacks down. Don't assume the cylinders will hold their pressure indefinitely. Most of the time I have my air pressure regulator on the compressor set @ 50, unless I want to use an air tool.

I have the BL-7000 SLX, It works great and will lift anything I have now or will have latter. Yes it will slide under my 2008 Z51 with no problem!!

I checked the 50 lbs and all was good. It was a little bit of a pain to get lined up with my pucks and all but once I hit the button it was awesome! She went right on up no problems. I went to full extension then let it back down to rest on the stops and this thing is rock solid. I disconnected the hoses and that's how she is sitting right now. Plenty room under the car and alot higher than Jack stands. Also safer I bet. I will probably still throw some Jack stands under there when I am just for extra safety sake.

FYI, Costco sells them as well. Might want to check their website.
