C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
I had a young woman slow down to 50 in a 75 zone and box me in. She raised her hand and waved at me while she laughed.
Soon as I could U blew past her on the right and put a few miles between us. Some people do some dumb chit.
Btw I was not even close to her when she did this, maybe 10 car lengths behind her when she did this.

You live in New York. The people are ********. It doesnt matter what you drive, that's just all they're capable of doing.

If you are speaking of NYC, then I don't know. If you are speaking of NY State, then my experience driving there is way better than driving here in Ontario. In recent memory, I've not had a bad or even annoying incident. Comparatively, very little aggressive driving, obvious speeding, very few boy racers, etc. The only state I've driven the vette in where the driving was pretty much equally bad as where I live was in MA, but even there when it comes to aggressive driving, they are rookies. When I drove Route 66 last summer, I passed through IL, MO, KS, OK, TX. NM, AZ, CA, and then up and over through OR, WA, ID, MT, ND, MN, WI, and MI. So, 16 states in all in that trip, and not one event where anyone was discourteous or aggressive towards me or the car.

False. I grew up in South Florida. We know what they're for, we just purposefully do not use them. It gives away your next move.

LOL...yep, a significant amount of them moved down here when they retired. And they brought their shi**y driving with them.

"Hey, 'New York' is all concrete and glass, right?" Not quite. New York City, maybe.
I'm about 350 miles from NYC and the culture, politics, lifestyle, people, etc. in the rural areas are about as far removed from NYC as you will find anywhere.

I can't say I've never had anyone act like the Op is suggesting, but not often. More often, (like damn near daily) I get compliments on my car and it comes from every demographic of people I encounter. Mine's nearly always clean, I even park it indoors at work like it is now, so it's generally spotless. Not so much as dusty from being outside. It seems a clean car with nice paint gets comments, regardless of what it is. A Focus RS that's clean and shiny gets a nod from me.
Maybe you big city folk need to get out a little more. Bruze above has the right idea. Well, except his pics there are like the metro area of where I live.

More than anything... other cars (drivers) tend to gravitate towards my Vert as if they're checking it out. And.. more times than I can count, I get waves, thumbs-up, and people stopping to let me merge into traffic... there is no getting around, "A Vette is something special..." (whether you're driving it or looking at it).

No, but I do often tell my wife that the faster and flashier my car gets the longer it takes me to get places.
For example, I'm trying to turn out of a parking lot onto a major street. Passing cars will slow down to get a good look at the Vette which causes me to miss openings in traffic. It's not malicious, just human nature.
Or when I stop to grab something I'll have people approach and want to talk about the car.
For reference, I also look like I'm about 25 so I don't think that's your problem.

I’m starting to believe that part of it is the area of the country where I’m from. Many of the kids that I went to school with were from the city then their parents moved up so it is heavily populated with people from nyc although it isn’t part of the city. I want the leave this area and move to a more relaxed part of the country

can't say for sure if the actions of other drivers, originate with them or me.
I know that I drive a bit more aggressively than the average bear. but I also
feel that I'm at least considerate of other drivers. unless their being 'left lane bandits".
then I've got be careful to rein in my hulkness.
regarding other drivers though, the usual interaction are people who feel the need to race you.
rarely does it happen that I don't get a mustang to, wind it up when passing in the opposite direction.
happily the usual interaction has been compliments from others.

OP, I can say that I've never experienced the type of driver you've described while driving a C6. I've gotten more 'red light' compliments while driving our 2012 Supersonic Blue Grand Sport than when we had our 2005 Victory Red Coupe, and that is still a rare occasion. It seems most folks around here don't care too much either way about a C6 Vette. Now, the Milla Miglia Red '72 Coupe is a whole different driving experience in more ways than one. People seem to be intrigued by the 47 year old ride. Everywhere I go in it, pictures are being taken, waves are being exchanged, and questions are asked at nearly every stop. As doomi mentioned above, it takes longer to get somewhere, due to the many questions being asked. It's okay though. I'm never in a rush and rarely have anywhere to actually "be". I've been retired and on island time for almost 7 years now. Enjoy your beautiful C6!
