That is probably true on the first part with the dealership. But would think they would have cleaned up the rear ducts more than that. It is still a car they are hoping to make some money on and the one definitely could have been presented much better. I agree with the other saying walk away from those two.

However, the brakes mine squeaked like crazy, and I know I have read folks have had that issue on here on the GS and Z06, but as soon as I replaced them it hasn't made a peep for the past 2.5 months. Bought the car on Monday early January, I got the pads over nighted along with a front tag bracket on Wed, and changed them that Saturday. The pads had a good bit of wear left and think it may have been more of an issue with the car sitting for awhile and maybe the design with the pins needing to be cleaned up and lubed a bit. Just glad I don't have to be embarrassed at coming to a stop now.

Funny thing with the tag bracket, found out there was one in the compartment in the back. So now I have two brackets in the compartments in the back. Can't bring myself to put them on the front yet. LoL. Pressing my luck I know, but would rather get a different mount as the OEM one is a horrible spot and ruins the nose.

Sounds like the couple babied the car. He had it listed for 36k and told my dad via message they would take 33K. Im thinking if its clean, 32k would be a good price?
That sounds like a winner there! Hopefully it works out for you! Let us know how things go with the car. Pretty much loaded and sounds like well maintained!

Dual tops is also a nice option. If you only prefer one top you can always sell the other one if you choose to. Guys are always looking for a targa top. I got both tops also, but prefer the color top on mine most of the time.

Elijah, dealers are perfectly willing to overpay on a quality trade if feel they are going to leverage that into a full price sale of another car.

I am not saying he valued your car too high, only stating a circumstance that often leads to an over-value offer. A few years ago, a dealer offered me $6k on a 15-year old Silverado with 200K on the clock. Of course, he would only give me that allowance if I paid FP for the Vette I was looking at. Jus' sayin'

If I was in the market for a Corvette this spring be pricing around new C7s. There are over 10000 inventory now and more being built. Unbelievable deals on new.

I've seen similar scenarios with coupes and z06 models, with respect to the majority of advertised prices vs what people on CF are saying they'd actually pay.
Right now you can get a C7 14, 15, or 16 in the low to mid 40s.
Seriously doubt that a C6 would bring that kind of money other than a Z 06 or ZR 1.

Well guys, another disappointing visit. Car looked great in pics, but again, not clean. WTF is with these sellers???

My take aways on 2011 GS w 26k miles:

  • Tires were about 10k miles old...Pilot Sport Cup
  • Exhaust valve bypass switch installed
  • Light swirling in paint, some chips, and a scratch in the hood
  • Filthy engine bay w mouse eaten hood liner
  • Dirty inside w cat hair behind the seats?? WTF
  • Lots of scratches in plastic on doors, sills, drivers door handle is trashed
  • Plastic has lots of white "dust"
  • Seats are decent...have power side bolsters
  • Glass top had a few scuffs
  • Battery was toast...wouldnt start after I shut it off...had to get a jump
  • They were at 33k, original owners, woman driven on highway mostly
  • Seems to run smooth and drive decent, clutch seemed good

Taking my gripes into consideration and the fact that the ad said it was pristine...thoughts?

Just keep shopping. Sometimes there is a lot of thrill in the chase. That's why hookers aren't all that popular.

There seems to be some issues there. But little things that are wrong show total neglect. The white on the door panels does happen, a lot of members report that, but a little care and 5 minutes of your time makes it go away. Showing a car with a bad battery, mouse eaten hood liner and those door sill scratches show a utter disregard for the car. God knows what else they NEVER did to the car they were supposed to.

Thats my point with all these cars. If it looks shitty when you show it, did you care to do everything it needs? They have all the maint records, but are those all proper? I offered him 32k, so i can pay my detailer to go over it and do a light paint correction. Im guessing I can replace the plastics that are effed up beyond a detailer. He has a new hood liner and likely will need a new battery...he said it was 2-3 years old and he disconnects it in the winter when its stored.

If he goes for 32k...maybe I make him meet me at the local dealer and throw it on the lift and have a diagnostics/inspection done?

Im guessing ALL fluids need changing....

That's a little disappointing. For $32k it may still be a decent deal and worth getting all those little things taken care of.

I was lucky, the guy I bought my car from spent more time detailing it than driving it. We made a deal over the phone and when I went to see it and pick it up, it was pristine and even freshly waxed. It even still had the clear plastic from the factory over the climate control screen.

That would be the first thing I do. But for the money your paying you shouldn't have to lay out the kind of money it's going to cost you to get it right even at $32K. Just from your pics was the inside ever cleaned? The floors even look disgusting. Good luck.

When you walk up on a car that is all shiny and slimey under the hood and that interior, you still have no idea if they cared to do everything it needs up until the day before they put it up for sale. I would rather walk up on a car in its natural state than one someone just ran across town and had a cheap detail done will they had lunch.
