Default Convertible top probs

Hey all,

I have an 06 convertible that when the paring brake is set and trying to lower top I get the message set parking brake. So I am assuming there is a switch probably under the brake boot? I know the light works since it is illuminated when car is first started. The top works just like it's suppose when just turning on accessories and lowering and raising top. So thought I would ask and see what could be the issue first.

sound like a sensor or kind of a switch problem.

Good question. I don't have an anwer for you but just experiemced the same issue in my 2011. Parking brake is enaged (fully) and it keeps telling me to engage it, Going to accessory mode allows the top to function normally.

Didn't work that way last year but it's just coming out of hibernation. Maybe she's not fully awake yet....

I would disconnect the battery negative cable for 15 minutes and then reattach. This re-boot may solve the problem. Could also be a dying battery.

Just went out and checked mine again. Like the OP said, it won't operate in 'Run' and with the hand brake engaged (used to!) but will work in 'ACC' mode (no handbrake needed).

I tried the battery disconnect suggestion but no dice. Anyone have any other thoughts on this?

I just had the exact same problem this morning with my top. I was able to get it to start working again by pulling off my e-brake boot and jiggling the connector there, which tells me it's probably oxidized and in need of a little sandpaper to refresh the contacts.

assuming this is only pertaining to MANUAL shift verts? I never have to pull the E-brake to raise or lower my top.... but I usually do it while in park.

I took the boot off the emergency brake and touched the little sensor a couple time with a screwdriver started her up and all works as intended now. Go figure lol
