Default Center Console Armrest Cover

I just received my center console armrest cover and looking for advise on mounting this to the stock lid.
There is no padding to the skin and the stock lid is fairly hard. Wondering if anybody has added a thin layer of padding before stretching the skin over.
Do you use a spray adhesive and how do you wrap the corners? Any other advice is welcome.
Thanks in advance for you help

I looked at mine when I got it and realized there was no way I could get it tight enough and took it to a pro for install.

How much did they charge for the install? Did they at some padding? If so what type and how thick, if you know?

Go to YouTube and look up YouTuber "chechaflo," although his videos are long it gives great insight to gluing leather. I used Barge contact cement on the pieces I leather wrapped. I also bought some closed cell foam sheet pads on Amazon for my DIY arm rest pads, I glued them down first and then the leather. The leather wrap you have may or may not have enough material for padding.

I've changed mine out a few times. I added foam each time and glued the last one down. It's not too difficult. If you aren't comfortable using the glue, the 3m double sided tape(exterior/auto grade) from an auto parts store will hold it well.

Took mine to the local upholstery shop after retuning one of the pre made ones that looked like poop, good decision on my part, as I remember it was $90

As several have said it's best to have a pro interior shop install this particular piece. They have the tools and chemicals to do the install properly. That's what I did with mine as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll take it to my local auto upholstery shop for simplicity. I know there is some kind of padding underneath the stock vinyl cover, so Ill have to decide if I want to add padding. The stock padding may be enough with the upgraded soft leather cover.

Many years ago, I ordered a 2 tone cover that had the foam already in place under the cover.

I purchased it from a forum vendor, possibly Southern Car parts

It was easy to install, and fit perfectly.

That looks like it’s from J-F Customs which is the same one I have & it’s fairly easy to install. You’ll need to peel off the OEM skin from the console lid spray the lid & underside of the new skin with 3M spray adhesive & then place the skin on the console lining with the stitching where you want it. Start at the front of the lid & work your way back. Wrap the edges around the underside and use clothes pins to hold them in place while the adhesive sets.

I have a post on here on my leather interior install if you search. The console lid was one of the easiest pieces to do.
