They pretty much operate the same and are both very accurate.
The built-in Garmin nav in Kenwood HU obviously quiets the music when it makes an announcement such as "turn left in 500 feet" ... The stand-alone Garmin nav certainly can't do that.
The stand-alone Garmin comes with free map updates for life ... The Kenwood / Garmin nav costs $70 for map updates (but these updates can be purchased on eBay for about $30).
Obviously, having the Garmin nav built into the Kenwood HU is much cleaner than having a stand-alone Garmin located somewhere in the car (with a power wire laying around and pushed into the cigarette lighter plug-in).
I was not aware these updates were available on "that" site. I ordered one amd will see if it actually works. Thanks!
Would love to see those pics and that INRIX application. I have never heard of it.
The red circle is the INRIX logo, red shows there's a problem on my route. Click on it and the next screen comes up... ...showing the problem and where it is. A little more info on the delay. Click on the yellow hazard sign and this screen pops up showing where the problem is. Split screen shows Navi and music source. Menu/Settings along the top. Back up camera. The front camera is pretty much the same thing. You can access either camera from the hard buttons on the bottom.

This is nice. Is that the built in Garmin GPS in the Kenwood? Or is it that other system INRIX application??? What is "No SXM Signal"?
Being that you must pay for that subscription is that a very common problem to get good reception of Sirius XM satellite?
To answer your first question, the pictures are the Garmin Navigation that comes with the Kenwood head unit, the INRIX traffic is the other pics I posted showing the traffic issue. Pete already answered the other question about XM, I had a spotty signal when I took the pictures but it eventually came in. And no, it is not a common problem, I was in my yard behind my house when I took the picture, the house was blocking the satellite signal. Happens all the time when I pull out of the garage until I get to the front of the house, then I get a clear signal.

I've had SiriusXM in my truck and various cars over the years and I'll give a non-scientific number that I've completely made up with no data to back up - my SiriusXM radios have a clear signal about 99.9% of the time. If I do lose the signal it is usually for about 10 seconds (if I'm moving) - It works as well as a GPS does.
This was my first time doing a head unit install. I watched some youtube and read the forums. I used the connectors instead of soldering everything because I didnt wanna recut things. I think the hardest part was taking everything apart and trying to squeeze it all in the dash. The mount is made of plastic. be careful with it. Mine broke in the center and Im not spending $20 on another lol.
I'd sure rethink those wire nuts if I were you, I could see them coming loose on you. Solder, and heat shrink tubing make for a much cleaner install, plus you'd have a little more room behind the dash without all those wire nuts.

I bought shrink tubing and everything else for when I do ever pull it out again. I just didnt know what I was doing. Well still don't but it works corrently.

I agree with Madsonp. Just an FYI to anyone doing this themselves, you can use connectors, but they need to be the crimp style connectors so that they don't come loose with movement. Do not use the screw on wire nut connectors made for home wiring.
Also KBC, it looks like you have your Metra faceplate installed upside down. Do you see the space and the curved corners where the faceplate meets the climate control? That part is suppose to be on top and fits into the center console opening.
Here is one of Roblo's pictures to show you what it should look like.

I went with the Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX. Love the wireless Carplay - phone doesn't have to come out of my pocket for navigation, apple radio, my playlists, text messages, etc. I have Careplay in my F-150 (OEM) and C4 Corvette (Pioneer) also, but both require wired connections. Wireless is the way to go.
The only thing with this unit is you have to trim the Metra faceplate some so the faceplate and open/close properly. One of the members shared a video on another thread. Trimming is easy and doesn't hurt the look if done properly.

I will go with the Kenwood EXcelon Series with two year warranty. Will go with a unit that has the slot for CD/DVD and no moving parts or moving front cover. I'm on the fence about having the GPS navigation built into the Kenwood Unit as that pushes the price way up there and whenever I do need navigation I can use my stand alone GPS Tom Tom or Garmin units that attach to inside of windshield or on a bean bag mount.

Lots of heat and vibration in Corvette could loosen things up.
^ This. I ordered mine from Crutchfield with the wires pre-wired. They used the crimp connecters and some where too loose for my taste. Ended up pulling it all apart and soldering and taping everything up nice and tight. BTW it's a super easy install. With the that GM (blue box) interface, it's all plug and play. Small hex (can't remember the size), a 7mm socket, and removing a few switches is all it takes.
This winter I may add a rear cam - and maybe a front.
