Have looked around and have heard about various methods to replace.... Any inputs would be appreciated.. probably just going to go with stock filter...
I put K&N filter in mine. I have used them for a number of years
on a variety of vehicles. I am pleased on their performance.
Some people will say they do not like them be cause they have
contamination on throttle body and they let dirt in.
I have not had any problems.
If you want something between a paper element and an oiled one, the aFe Pro Dry S is a good option. It's washable and doesn't need oil. You get less flow than an oiled filter, but more filtration, and still more flow than paper. I use these filters on 2 of my other cars and intend to use one on my Corvette when the time comes.
You could try my method, but I don't think you'd like it much. I ran over a mini boulder (about 10" round) at 55 mph, which destroyed the entire front end of the car, the engine cradle, most of the exhaust, the passenger side floor pan, and the lower passenger side rocker arms on front and rear. Everything in front of the throttle body was replaced, which included the air filter.

Yikes.. No I just want an easy to remove and replace procedure.. ;-)

Here's what I use in my LS3 - ACDelco A3107C Professional Air Filter
Haven't heard of various methods to replace, but it's very straight forward. Took me about 20 minutes, give or take.
K&N might have the potential to flow better, but they will pass more dirt. I posted a comparison of various filters some time ago, and K&N doesn't score very well for dirt. AC Delco scored the best, and I doubt that they have any noticeable restriction for a stock LS3..

A little Dirt won't hurt your engine...Maybe after 200,000 miles.

The GM stock paper filter is a quality product, If you have a stock engine, stick with that
I used to run oiled filters in my old Silverado until I had to replace my first MAF sensor due to oil damaging the wire. It was beyond being able to be cleaned. Good paper filters are fine unless they are neglected for mostly stock/mild setups.
