First time I hit a pothole that was full of water. Couldn't tell it from the rest of the road. Second time I crossed an unknown intersection and the far side was a huge dip. Both times I needed new supports. second time it bent my radiator and broke upper bracket too. Never had a problem parking the car, but I did just install a front camera for this eventuality.

Hi,
You might want to install a pair of our Fangs on your new support to help prevent breakage again.
Here is the info and how they work. www.saccitycorvette.com/C6-Fangs.html

My rad support is cracked/broken from a few places on my 08 z06 and looking to replace it.
Cranescorvette sells but I have no luck trying to get a hold of them, no contact number on their site.
Any other recommendations? Better quality than OEM?
Thanks!
I removed mine. Didn’t take long, and had it welded for about £40 by an aluminium welding specialist. Had 3 breaks and a missing mounting tab, they also made one of them up and welded in place.
I just bought mine from Eckler's for $350 on sale. The welds seem sturdier than those on the OEM piece. It comes unpainted so I spray painted it black.
I don't believe that hitting parking curbs is the most common cause of breakage. Here in the northeast I believe potholes cause the most breakages.
I live on Long Island and we have some enormous potholes, I think the full weight of the car came down on the skid plate and caused it to break. On the driver's side, both of the skid plate attaching bolts broke off and the curved part of the piece was also cracked. It must have taken quite an impact to cause that much damage. The upper radiator support, which is plastic, also broke.
I don't think it is possible to break it on concrete parking curbs because the lower part of the front fascia would hit first and scrape up the paint. Even if you did manage to hit the skid plate while parking, you would only be going a couple of miles per hour and the impact would not be intense enough to break the plate.
Which threads suggest that most broken skid plates are caused by parking curbs. I don't believe it is possible to break them this way.
When pulling in forward, the lower part of the front fascia would hit the top of the concrete curbs and scratch up the paint. Even if you went far enough to hit the skid plate, you would be going too slowly to break the skid plate.

Sorry missed that post. Ya, those are some hard hits. Not much you can do to protect when the support gets that kind of impact.
A local Corvette friend here in Sacramento hit a pot hole that was full of water and it broke his rim and tore up part of his wide body kit.
He was pissed and called the county and they paid for a shop to fix it.
