R2 released on Thingaverse. Noted fowling condition and corrected. Fit checked for functionality and all works fine on my ride. Will print from ABS or PETG for the summer months coming.
Thanks for the feedback on this...Bill.
Well, hell, why didn't ya say so...I'm using the R2D2 Thingamabobber and it fowls like a chicken, plus my monomers got amorphous with my blow molder.
Printing in ABS is a little more involved than PLA and generally needs an enclosure around the printer. The equipment to do 3D printing can range from about $400 and up. The cost of the ABS plastic to make an ashtray is only a couple bucks and it probably costs more in electricity than material. The ashtray is about a 2-3 hour print with the nozzle heated to 240c and the print bed heated to 100c during that entire time.
Less than two bucks for PLA. A bit more for ABS.
Print time was about 5 hours.
This was a project that I wanted to SHARE with others that MIGHT have access to a 3D printer.
Here's an idea, If you don't have an interest in this sort of thing, it's best for all to refrain from wasting time with negative comments.
Hello Blanz,
I know nothing about thingverse and I would like to make one of these inserts. I have found someone with a 3D printer and I wanted to make sure that it is ok to use your design.
thanks
