I found a 2012 Grand Sport locally but my my aim or goal was a C7 Grand Sport. That said, has anyone stayed with their C6 even if they could afford a C7? Is the C6 seating the same or better in comfort terms over C7? Finally does C6 come with a glass/clear targa top?
Thanks in advance.
I had perfectly fine loaded up 2015 Stingray for about 35 k miles...I went back to C6 base Corvette and I love it...I've had 6 Corvettes 5 of them c6's. They are more fun to me and I think they look better too...
yes....used they probably average 700 ish...You can still get new ones for about 2k...
Clear tops are easier to find than the painted top. Clear top is universal, painted top, well, any time you have to find one and have it painted, which ain't cheap. If you have to add a top adding the clear is easier....
Hopefully everyones answers to the OP were sarcastic, else folks got their little panties in a wad over a simple question.
A lot of people love the C7 and that's great. Love that the brand continues to get more people involved. I personally saw nothing that made it worth spending another 5-20 grand to pick one up. So many processors that can go bad (don't touch one that's had any water damage) and to me it looks like the designers only used a straightedge. I was able to pick up an '11 GS with 5.5k miles last year so it's as new as a C6 can be. My 5th Corvette and at my age I'm guessing my last unless I win the lotto and can light cigars with 100's.
My only advice is; Do Not Settle! I had been out of the Corvette world about 15 years when I picked up a really nice '12 1LT base with 9k miles in 2018. I really wanted a GS but thought it would do since it looked new. One year later I couldn't take it any longer and had to find a low mileage GS 6M. Obviously lost some cash. Don't make the same mistake.

I have a 2011 Grand Sport and I love it. Mine did come with the glass top.
I have never much cared for the styling of the C7 but it is a good car for the most part. One thing to remember about the C7 Grand Sport and Z06's is there is a very big problem with bend and cracking wheels. And GM has not recognized this and issued a recall. I would stay away from the C7 GS or Z06. I don't think the base C7 is affected.
Another advantage I think the C6 has over the C7 is the C6 is port injected while the C7 is direct injected. Direct injection is a cool technology and it does allow for more power, less emissions, and more fuel efficiency but any DI car will eventually have to have the intake ports cleaned. Port injection, you never have to worry about that.
Don't listen to him... He's prolly upset because he has a LilNutsak….

I have had 6 Corvettes over 40 years or so including a 2011 C6 Base, 2015 C7 Z51 A8 and my current Corvette which is a 2013 427 Anniversary Edition Vert. IMHO the C6 Grand Sport body is the best looking Corvette body style maybe ever. Never liked the big butt on C7 and a lot of A8 auto trans had issues especially early years. C7 seats are better than C6. C6 feels like a bit more room inside. Love Mag Ride Control option which is standard in C7 Grand Sport. If you like bells and whistles C7 has more than C6. I sold my C7 and took that $ to buy a very low mile garage queen C6 Anniversary. Condition is very important in a used car. Good deals on left over 2019 C7's. Think with your head not your heart. Good Luck!

Nah if we were being sarcastic we'd say why you want a GS its just a poser Z06...Get the real thing.

sure the ZO6 is a hot machine -- just like a crazy bitch - so good in the sack but on a daily basis -- I will take a Grand Sport - a little more civilized - like a good looking woman not crazy Bi Polar Bitch.

Sounds very offensive in a very good way ... I wish I could be so candid at the risk of being banned.

I don’t know about the clear tops easier to find thing. A lot of have both tops and for me my painted top has been hanging in a bag in the garage for 15 years.

What I meant was, if you do find a clear one, its ready to go.... no paint needed, it can come off any color car and work...... I have the clear top, and it was heck finding a painted top... magnetic red was only made for one year, but the clear tops were made all the same for 9 years. I really don't like my clear top at all...

I agree. My car came with the clear top. Finding a torch red painted top proved difficult. During my search, I came across plenty of clear tops for sale before finding a torch red top. Finally found one here on the forum, and the clear top has never been back on my car.
I've got a 13 silver GS coupe which I bought brand new. 6 speed manual and fully loaded. My first and only Corvette, although I always wanted one. I bought it right after I saw the first photos of the new 2014 C7. I immediately didn't like the C7 styling, the direction GM went with some other things, or the video game digital dash. ( 7 years later I still have not really warmed up to the C7 appearance.). Everyone was saying back then how the C7 interior was a major upgrade, and from a materials standpoint it was, but I much prefer the roomier, simpler layout of the C6. And 7 years later I still love to look at my C6 GS.
That said, GM sold thousands and thousands of C7's in only a few years. It was truly a huge success. Because it is an incredible sports car. The more modern styling appealed to lots of buyers who never even considered a Corvette before, and the ride, handling, updated technologies and nicer interior were supposedly clear upgrades over the older C6 platform. However, interestingly, as you see here there are also some who actually got a C7 and then went back to the C6. And there are already thousands of used C7's already for sale.
At the end of the day, there is really no bad choice. If you like the modern looks of the C7 its a great Corvette. If you like the classic looks of the C6 its a great Corvette. They are both great. My C6 is a toy for me . . . . for my daily driver I lease an Audi with a really beautiful interior and every bell and whistle. So my C6 GS is all I need for some fun. But soon there will be midengine C8's everywhere and then both the C6 and the C7 will be outdated. Which, incidentally, also makes the C7 the last Corvette with a 6 speed manual.
In fact, I do Iike the looks of the C8 but will never buy it due to the lack of useable storage with the mid engine design . . . so my C6 GS may be my last Corvette. And that's ok.
Good luck.
ps - if you want to have some fun search and read some of the older posts in this forum after the C7 was first revealed . . .
