I found a 2012 Grand Sport locally but my my aim or goal was a C7 Grand Sport. That said, has anyone stayed with their C6 even if they could afford a C7? Is the C6 seating the same or better in comfort terms over C7? Finally does C6 come with a glass/clear targa top?

I sold a 15 Z51 A8 last May and bought a 09 Z51 M6 in November. My wife has back issues and couldn’t take the C7 any more, so I sold it and bought the C6 to mod. The C6 interior is more comfortable to me.
The C7 is a remarkable car. It has over 70 microprocessors in it vs about 20 in the C6. Those microprocessors help to control much of the performance of the car. For example, you can cut off traction control in the C7 and it’s still very difficult to get the rear tires to break loose. If you are driving the C7 on a curvy road you can feel it not letting you do something stupid so that you lose it. If you can’t or won’t react with it you can wreck it, but that’s just stupidity getting in the way of technology.
I like my C6 manual, but it’s true that in the C7 you can’t outshift the computer on the A8. It’s just not physically possible.
I got more compliments on my C7 than I get on my C6. People would stop me so they could take pictures of it, have their kid stand by it to take a picture, etc.... They are beautiful cars, and yes - I had a glass top on mine.

It's personal preference. I don't like C7 styling and will skip it. If/when I tire of my Centennial GS vert I will go straight to C8. And yes, you can get a "glass" top for C6.
When I bought my Corvette three years ago, I was deciding between a C6 and C7, I also looked at some C1s. Cost wasn't an issue. The only reason I didn't get the C1 was because I wanted a daily driver and would have felt guilty driving a C1 into the ground. Found a fully restored 62 as well for 70k that I defiantly thought about. Too me cars are art work in addition to other functions. As such I went with the C6 over the C7, The C6 is the better looking of the two, with the new C8 the C7 already looks old to me, while the C6 still looks fresh. I am still happy with the choice.
That said the C8 has my attention, a few years from now I may be taking, a look at those.
Buy what you want, wait for it if you have to. If you buy a C6, you will kick yourself EVERYTIME you see a C7 (especially one for sale). Plenty of cars out there. Wait. For. It.
I had the same choice, and even after I bought my C6, I went and drove another C7. Happy to say no regrets. I want to Mod my C6, and I purposely bought an older one to keep the starting cost down, leaving e money to play with it, put stuff in it, not be afraid to turn a wrench on it (in fact my only regret is, not waiting and getting a higher mileage car so I could do even more to it).
Decide what you want, and what you want to do with it, and how much the TOTAL cost you are willing to put out for it, including mods, and whether you do them yourself or have someone else do it. I just can't help myself, I can't NOT take it apart and play with my toys.
Best to you, no matter which you pick but do it with no regrets, and especially ENJOY it! Both are a blast.
WTF what? I don't have to have the latest and greatest to be satisfied. As I stated, I don't like C7 styling and will skip it - PERSONAL CHOICE. I like C8 and could afford it if I wanted, but currently have no DESIRE to change. I damn sure don't understand some people on this forum; I answer his question and give my personal thoughts for me, and you find the need to attempt a disparaging comment.

If the C7 is your goal, then that's what you should get or you will feel like you settled. I made my purchase a year ago and could have had either, but I've always liked the C6 best and I kept reminding myself that in a matter of months, both models were going to be old/past models to the C8 anyway, so I may as well get the one that speaks to me more. I haven't regretted the decision. If I ever do, screw it - I'll get the C7. Not all C6's come with the clear top, but it is an option for sure.
I just recently sold my ‘12 GS which was a great car & I had about $15k in upgrades to it. I sold it specifically for the Z06 I ended up purchasing but prior to purchasing the new Z06, I took another look at C7 Grand Sports & Z06s. I found a ‘16 Z06 with the Z07 pkg (same as the ‘11 C6 Z06/Z07 I was looking at), M7 transmission, and virtually the same miles as the C6 (15k vs 17k) for the same price.
The C7 Z was Laguna Blue with black interior, stage 3 aero & was a good-looking car. The C6 interior was more comfortable to me ( I’m 5’9”, 215 with broad shoulders & thighs), and the C6 wide-body with the aero just has a more timeless design - to me.
The best course of action is to drive both & determine which one is best for you.
I drove a few C7s and a few C6s convertibles. The C7 feels very modern compared to the C6. But the C6 is more comfortable, more leg room, and bigger inside. The wife liked both. I searched for a year and settled on the C6. Found a Convertible with Z51 package with only 16500 miles. No regrets. I replaced the radio and added a back up camera. Replacing the wires this weekend. I love having a Vette I can mod myself. Not sure if I could do much with the modern tech on the C7. Vettes are rare and they all catch eyes.
I've had both and when the wife wanted a drop top ZL1 the C7 got traded in while my C6 is still in my garage, and will be for a long time. A lot of it is only personal preference. While the C7 has an updated interior, it still feels cheap for the price of the car esp. in 1LT/LZ trims. Taller and wider people will most likely be more comfortable in the C6. At 5'9", I had no problem with headroom in my C7s, but I am broad shouldered and felt claustrophobic with not much room for lateral movement. I would avoid the A8 in the C7 as they have been problematic, and IMO are plain boring. As others have stated, if you want the C7, then don't settle for a C6. Make sure to get some seat time in both, you might actually find you prefer the C6. Final thought, with C8 production slowed, I'd imagine that C7 GS cars will become much more readily available in the used market and cheaper as more C8s roll out. You may want to wait for a year or so, or if you buy a C6 GS right and then upgrade to a C7 or even C8 in a year or two, the depreciation would be less than that of the C7 or C8 you would be trying to buy. Good Luck!
C7's a way better car but the C6 is easier to enter/ exit. IMO.
C6 is way less claustrophobic for me but the interior still has the 2001 Camaro vibe to it.
Both kick ***, can't lose either way. Go with with what feels the best, like trying on shoes. 😁

I'm quite sure it was sarcasm (like my post, #2) and a poke at the OP, which comes across a little shitty if you read it again. Lighten up.

I got yours pretty easily. Not so sure on the other. Guess I can lighten up or go the ignore choice if I so choose. Don't think I've felt the need to do that on CF yet. FB on the other hand...
I have a C6 and have considered trading up but as others have said the C7 makes me feel a little cramped and boxed in. But that's just me and I might get used to it. If not for that I would already have a C7.
I personally prefer the C6 styling over the C7, especially a wide body C6 such as the Z06 or GS. The wide body C6 LOOKS WIDER than the C7 version - IMHO.
Also, the cabin in the C6 is bigger - it's wider and has more leg room...

That's the way I took it. A sarcastic dig towards the OP's post. The OP basically said we drive C6's not because we like them but because we can't afford a C7. Which implies we can't afford a C8 either.
