you can connect the factory Sirius antenna to an aftermarket head unit with a FAKRA adapter.

Hey Lisa,
I did keep my subscription to Sirius/XM. When I ordered everything from Crutchfield they told me I was not able to use the existing GM XM antenna. I had to install a new one that they I had to purchase sepaerately with the whole package. You do need the SiriusXM tuner/antenna. Make sure you get the ready harness to simplify the install. Works great and it's fantastic!! You won't be sorry! Good luck!
This is what I bought...QTY PRICE Kenwood Excelon DDX9907XR 1 $899.99 Metra 95-3304 Dash Kit 1 $6.15 PAC RP5-GM11 Wiring Interface 1 $73.83 SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner 1 $69.99 Crutchfield ReadyHarness™ Service 1 $24.99 Accele RVCLPMBS 1 $79.99 Bojo Trim Panel Tools 1 $11.99

thank you for the information Where did you place your Sirius antenna? I have soon some on the dash in the corner. Not wild about that idea but if I have to then I have to.

I kinda like to upgrade to a more up to date unit but just can't give up the HUD for it.

thank you so much! It’s a lot of information and took me awhile to get it. I subscribed to the thread so that once I find what heat unit I am going to get I can refer back to it.
the more I read on people’s head unit installs the more I am thinking it might not be something I can tackle. Hate to do it but I will probably have to get a professional install it. I am going to do the install and run the wires for a back and front cam myself because I want it done without drilling in my car.
thanks again for the information.
I love all you peeps on here

I DON’T want to give it up but if you change to aftermarket you lose HUD nav and radio functions.

HUD still works. But like Suplumr said, you lose any head unit related info through the HUD. For me, it was a non-issue and well worth it in exchange for all the other features I gained.

You will not give up the HUD. Just will lose just the radio display on the HUD nothing else.

ahh...thanks. I got worried and thought it would no longer function.
In my case I never used the native NAV or even the radio to be honest (enjoy LS7 soundtrack).
I’m just replacing the head unit to have cameras, Bluetooth and modern NAV.
oh, and the Torque APP

Speaking of the Torque App...Is this the one you are talking about? I've never used it. Are you saying that it will project on the head unit screen via Android Auto or otherwise? Also what OBD2 reader are you using?

Yes, that’s the one.
I have my head unit (Xmas present to me) but unfortunately it’s not installed yet.
The car is hibernating elsewhere for the winter.

The app can be installed on the head unit (android) and is displayed on the screen.
The head unit came with some accessories including the OBD2 thingy https://www.eonon.com/m-ProductShow....roductNo=V0056
