Ned information on installing a Duracell AGM battery ?
I'm installing a Duracell AGM 47 H5 battery. The stock hold down bolt is a little short, What did you use instead of the stock bolt hold down ?
Thank you !
Thank you !

I have a Red Top that's an AGM. It fit perfectly.

Find out what the thread is and go to home depot and but a slightly longer bolt (metric).
Take the original bolt with you to Home Depot and find a nut that fits. Then you know the size. Then look for the proper length bolt.

It's not short...keep fiddling, or turn the hold down block upside down.

James,
I am sure there is a reason, but why did you choose the 47/H5? I purchased the Duracell AGM group size 35/85 and it fit perfectly. Also, the cutouts for the terminals were not so tall as to inhibit the cable connections.

Duracell 75DTAGM myself that fit without problems on a 2005, which has the the top lugs for the battery cables, as well as the side terminals to connect the battery tender cables into as well.

C6 Battery ?
Well I thought the Duracell AGM 47 H5 battery was the right AGM battery to fit in a base C6, at least that is what I came up with after hunting here for 2 months ? I take it I'm wrong ?

When I was searching for an AGM and planned to purchase from Sam's I found that Duracell did not list by auto application for the Vette. Their website recommended to measure and find the most suitable size to fit. For my 2013 Grand Sport, this was the match. I also didn't realize that some of the AGM batteries have deep wells surrounding the terminals. Fortunately the pictured fit perfectly and attaching the cables was effortless. Some of the C6 applications have the terminal polarities reversed from mine and I am not sure of your MY. Looks like Dano's is reversed from mine from his 2005 pictured example.
Hope this helps & good luck.

Pull the connectors, clean the connectors and lugs with a brush to get the old rust/corrosion off, dielectric grease everything , then reinstall.
With as dry as you have everything now, your going to have corrosion problems in less than a few months.
Hence the entire connectors metal top and bottom~exposed wire cables, and the entire lugs on the battery down to the plastic bases, should be gleaming like a greased pig before the connectors are installed to prevent corrosion problems.

Dano,
You are exactly right! After taking the pic I noticed the rust on the negative cable connector & I did what you had described.
Thanks & I am always interested in reading your technical reviews as they are spot on!

The one I always love, you go to give someone a jump, pop the hood open to see about 2" of corrosion on the lugs and connectors, try to connect the jumper cables and the connector twists off, and the clueless party asks if you think its the battery that has the problem; since they just had the car serviced a few months ago.
As for the spray-on with dry connectors installed on the dry lugs, not a fan of it, since it still leaves the bottom of connector, base of lug dry, so you just end up with the corrosion ring starting there, and working its way up between the lug and inside of connector isntead.

OK, So the only way to figure out what AGM battery will fit my Base 2007 Vette, I need to take the battery out and measure it's size ? I'm a little confused, I have an Interstate battery, but I'm trying to find a GOOD AGM battery that fits in the base 2007 Vette.

Just go to your nearest O'Reilly's store and tell them what kind of car you have. They'll recommend the same Optima Red Top I have in my car, and they keep them in stock. No need to measure anything. Bonus is they'll install it for you too.

From all of your other posts, it is obvious you are not the most mechanically inclined person. That being said, assuming you still have the old battery, compare them side by side, that should tell you if have the right one......pretty simple.

Hi.
I decided to change my OEM battery on my '08 a couple of year ago. I wanted to go with an AC Delco AGM to keep the underhood looking as stock as possible. Not so easy to find - but eventually I went with an ACDelco AGM 47 battery.

Well how does this fit a 2007 base ? The only thing I can find on a battery is that it's a 90 T5 battery. What kind of AGM batter fits a 90 T5 ?

Is this question directed at me? I don't know what you mean by a "90 T5 Battery". I only know that the AC Delco AGM 47 battery will fit any c6 with an under hood battery as seen on my post above.

"The width of the AGM47 is .1” wider than the original. I trimmed the lower front hold down “ear” with a belt sander, shaving off .1”. The AGM47 plunked right in, sitting flat on the battery tray. The rear hold down “ear” fit right into the battery tray’s rear curled edge, and the Hold Down rubber clamp fits perfectly."
I am not sure if the OP has this problem as well as the hold down bolt. Did you have the same issue with this battery installing in your '08?
The OP has purchased a Duracell AGM, so he has a couple of options; get a longer bolt, or trade the battery for the Duracell 35/85 as it does fit; get refund & buy the Optima; or take the money & go to an auto parts store & explain the problem and buy their recommendation & hopefully have them install.
That should do it!
