How difficult should this be? When I bought her, the previous owner had purchased the kit from ClearMask, but didn't install it (unfortunately for me). I do have it (still sealed in the box, with the water sprayers and squeegees, and even an installation video on a CD/DVD. Who the hell has a CD or DVD player??)
I'm about to have the car detailed locally, but they didn't sound too enthused about putting the new kit on. Also have a mobile tinter coming out afterward. Asked them but didn't sound too interested either.
Famous last words - how hard can it be? I've watched several videos and seems straightforward (if time-consuming), but I've never done anything like this before. Interesting but there is a clear bra on the hood, and the mirrors, but nowhere else. I guess if I f it up, it's not a huge loss since I didn't pay for it (well I guess maybe I did since I bought the car!)
Any pointers from someone who's attempted this (successfully or not)? Thanks!
Pretty difficult from what I hear. Leave it to the pros.
Probably why it wasn't done prior lol. The videos make it look pretty straightforward, lots of spraying soapy water, stretch it out, use an alcohol solution on the edges and squeegee it out. But I'm sure I'd mess something up.
I'll see if when I drop it off at the detailer if they will give it a shot or not. I'll pull the existing stuff off first so they can detail every bit. If not, maybe try with the tinter again.
If it's gotta clear bra on it now I hope you realize it's not a 'grab a corner and peel it off' process.
It only has a few pieces at the moment, the lower half of the hood, mirrors and just in front of the rear wheels.
What else needs to be done to remove it? I was able to get the mirror one off, but took it slow and used a heat gun on low. I would assume the hood will take awhile using that method.
Most Blue Ray players will also play CDs and DVDs.
Do not attempt to install clear bra on an entire car unless you know what you're doing and have the correct tools to do so.
I know I just thought it was funny the kit came with a CD. I think I still have an external DVD player for my laptop somewhere. I might still have a Blue Ray player. Most everything is converted to digital now for me though.

I don't have any hands on experience but based on what I know it is best left to the professionals for installation and removal. When I was in the market for a Vette the one I wanted to buy had the 3M film on the front bumper, quarter way up the hood, and on the rockers. I could clearly see a visible line on the hood and then started doing research on the removal of the film. What I learned was that there is the possibility that paint could actually lift with the film and that that concerned me. It is rare that it happens but the possibility still remained. So part of my deal on the purchase was to have the film removed and if paint lifted the deal was off. I was provided updates on progress and all went well.. It took them close to 6 hours to remove the film and then polish the car. I know the film serves a purpose but I would never use that stuff on any car I own.
Been there and you live in a great state. Trying to plan a trip to Lake Powell in the not to distant future.
I lived in AZ for 20 years before moving to TN this year (well back, lived here years ago). Every new car I bought I had it put on at the dealer. There are so many rocks on the roads it's a necessity.
Taken in everyone's input - hopefully I can find someone to install it for me.
