I did the install myself.. While I am pretty technical I still asked lots of question before I tackled it..I soldered my wires and I also put in a back up camera and dash cam.. The hardest part for me was running the wires for the rear camera... I got my HU from Bestbuy because crutchfield couldn't deliver. here are a couple of pics.. any questions just ask away..
I got lucky and picked up a HU from Crutchfield (lucky because they seem out of stock on lower to middle range units) it came with the sheet for C6s on removing center console and speakers. I’ll wait for the speakers for now.
overall it was a smooth process. Took me a little longer than planned but looks and sounds good. The only mistake I made (that I haven’t fixed yet) is I tired the rear camera to the brake power. Oops. Just haven’t gotten around to fixing it yet.
If you decide to give it a go by yourself, I agree that Crutchfield is the place to buy your items from, they have fair prices & all of the wiring needs for your particular vehicle plus techs that you can call with a question if you have an issue
I asked the same question a couple years ago and the majority suggested to just have BB install it. Bought it from Crutchfield with the custom plug and play harness and 90 minute install. No muss, no fuss.

Can you provide the brand and model numbers of your HU units possibly. Would be helpful to narrow down options Thanks!
I bought the Alpine ILX-650 (something like that). It's not bad, for $300 it was the cheapest with the most options (front and rear camera inputs, apple carplay and pre-amp outputs). Plus you can get an Alpine amp made to fit on the back of the HU. Figure when it's speaker time I'll look at that for the door speakers, and get another amp for the sub I'll put in the back.

JVC KW-M865BW For what it's worth, JVC is the Kenwood "value" brand, so it's all the Kenwood functions/specs, just a slightly lower price ($100 less than equivalent Kenwood). Honestly it has more functions than what I need, but it was the lowest priced unit I could find with wireless AndroidAuto/Carplay and two USB connections. Wireless AA/CP is very nice, especially for around town, but you will want to plug in if you're driving for more than an hour as it sucks battery. And the two USB connections was important so I could have both my phone and a USB stick connected at the same time (or both mine and my wife's phones). Very happy with it, and as others have mentioned it cleaned up the sound noticeably over the stock headunit with no other changes.
I had Best Buy Hayden Idaho install a radio in my car a few years ago. Very expensive as salesman added many unneeded parts and charged a fortune. Recently tore out unneeded amplifier and installed a new radio. Do not recommend. May be prevalent problem in the auto audio business, though.
I went with a Kenwood DMX 9707s... no nav or dvd but I didn't really need that with Android Auto and a USB stick.. Radio is great.. Cost was $629 for the radio from BB. RP5-GM11 converter for steering wheel controls was $99 from Amazon... And $5 for a USB cable so I could keep my USB port in my console...
I had a best buy install my stereo in a previous car. It will depend heavily on who is doing your car, I am sure there are some good ones but I know there are some terrible ones. I had a terrible one and eventually took it to a professional shop that does them and it cost me a few hundred to fix all their mistakes. The guy at the car sound shop was surprised how bad it was and that my car hadn't caught fire, he sent me lots of photos of the work they did so I know he wasnt just blowing smoke to justify his work.
that's the one I have been looking at. thanks for the heads-up
Since you also have a 2013 this "IS" the cable for the USB port in console...I tried 3 other cables until a member here told me to order this one... I got it from amazon...

I think the trick with some cables not working is that it needs to be a USB 2.0 to mini B cable. "2.0" being the key part. I'm not sure why, but it works.
well kinda sorta... One was USB 3/2.0 compatible cable and one was a pure 2.0 cable... only one that worked was the one torchredfred told me about..
It just so happens the one I bought worked for me. I'm not sure why some work and others don't. I thought it was the "2.0" classification also, but now I don't know.
