Just put new tires on... Wow.
What a difference. When I purchased my 2007 5 years ago, the tires were in great shape but I didn't pay attention to the date code on the tires when I bought it. Now, 20,000 miles later, I replaced the 10 year old Michelin run flats with Kumho Ecsta PA51's from Tirerack.com and 4 new Schrader brand TPM's from Rockauto.
It was a 50 mile drive to the Tirerack recommended installer, Wolverine Tire in Spooner, WI I had an appointment at 4:00 pm, but got there early and they got me right in. I explained the jacking pucks and showed them where the wheel lock socket was..... no problems!
On the ride home I was very pleased. The roads around here are not exactly smooth as they suffer through hard winters and lots of freeze-thaw cycles in the spring. The old Michelin run flats hit every crack in the roadway hard, almost to the point of my wife not wanting to ride in it because of her back. The car has the Z51 suspension and it's still stiff and stable, but the ride quality is so much better.
I went with non run flat tires to improve the ride. Any tire issues I've had have always been slow leaks. Easy enough to deal with by adding air and keep going until I could get it plugged. A blown out tire, run flat or not, is a ride on a flat bed...
Old tire date code.... week 20, 2011
New TPM's... Wolverine Tire had no problems getting them linked to the car..
Baby on 4 floor jacks...

Congrats on the new tires. Your story is similar to mine, but my Goodyear F1 Supercar RF tires were 3 years old, with approx 10k miles on them, about 1/2 worn. I picked up the car, drove it 1250 miles to my home. It has the performance package so I knew it would be a stiffer ride. The RF's were Ok on the interstates, but on local roads, the tires would track every crack and crevice on the pavement, and it was a rough ride. Luckily, I did not hit any rain, because a few days later, I did get into a rain shower, and those tires hydroplaned like crazy. The next day, I had them replaced with non runflats, and couldn't believe the difference all around. We use the car for road trips, so a smooth ride is nice, and great wet and dry traction is a must. We have put at least 80k miles of our 110k+ miles, and all of those have been on non runflat tires, mostly Firestone Indy 500's (the older tread style) and lately running Michelin PS4S. Traction on those is equal to the Firestones, but not as smooth of a ride. I will try something else next tire change.
The good thing about putting on lot's of miles, I wear tires out before the rubber goes bad

Perhaps I need some more break-in time with the Firestones, but I noticed the Mich's had more traction and rides smoother.
Like the OP, I went from ZP tires (Michelin A/S 3) to non-runflats and really enjoy the drive MUCH better. I also have the Z51 package.

I recently purchased general g max hps tires and I love em. Hook up great ride great and aren't loud. Were way cheaper than some other options, have to see how long they hold up for.

Interesting. I just pulled off PS4S with 844 miles on them yesterday and put on new Indy 500s yesterday.
