I have the PO455 code on my car, I would rather not go to the dealer for this & need some help diagnosing the issue. Start with the gas cap and/or the canister purge valve? Thanks

This is the basic EVAP Control System failure. First & easiest is to make sure gas cap is tight. Second would be replacement of the gas cap itself. Third is replacement of the EVAP vent solenoid in right rear adjacent to fuel tank....inexpensive part & easy DIY. In each case, you need to drive several cycles after the "fix" in order for the system to reset itself, before going to the next step.
