Been doing a few 200 mile road trips lately and getting a lot of rock chips on my nose........Should have done a 3M job when I got it in May...... Whats a good bra that won't damage paint? I looked at speed lingerie but doesn't it block or hinder air flow ? It looks like it covers the entire front...I run a vara ram and you want that air flow.....
+1 on Novistretch. Used mine on a 2,500 mile RT -- highways, state routes, -- and it worked really well. And after all those miles... with some of it "in the wet" there was no buildup of grit between it and the paint... no scratches. There was one minor impact -- probably from a small rock -- that nicked the fabric enough to cause a small run... the nice folks @ Novitstretch helped me with a replacement.

I just can’t see how that does not restrict airflow though....Product looks good and at around 140 bucks it’s not expensive...
Just did a 600 mile trip and added about 40 rock chips on my front nose ( damm, and car was painted last year )...Next trip over 100 miles I think I’m just going to get a roll of 3M clear and put it on the impact area ...When I get home I will just peel it off...
The NovaStreach is a good cover for around town and short trips. It will not stop small gravel of some sand damage because it is so thin. there are conflicting experiences on what the NovaStreach will stop. They canl tear and get small holes especially if old or have been washed several times. Personally I have had three of them.
The best protection in my opinion is a cover that is considerably thicker that will stop the larger road debris. The clear bra is most likely the next best thing next to the thicker cover. I speak from personal experience on this issue.
Novistretch wont do much for bigger debris but I love it for preventing bugs and bug stains. That is what I use it for primarily. It’s thin enough where it doesn’t impede airflow even with my intercooler in front of the radiator.
Good point about the novistretch...I’m sure it’s good for around town and bug debris when it gets warm out....
Like I said I just did a round trip from NY to Fredericksburg VA...Spent a few days there buzzing around before I came back...When I got there I did notice some small rock chips but nothing major...
Different story when I got back to NY....My front bumper looked like BB gun fire....I’m like i guess my car likes to travel south instead of north....Lol..
Long story short I touched it up very well...Next big trip if there is one I will try clear 3M ....Will first cut a small piece and see how easy it is to get off once it’s on....Rolls of this stuff is not expensive....As long as I cover a decent portion of the front right below the insignia I should be fine, hopefully..
Novistrectch does not seem to bother air flow at all. The only time I use mine is on Vegas trips. I have used Novistrectch at temps up to 110 degrees with no problems.
PPF: Self-healing stuff is pretty good.... BUT, it will scar if anything remotely large hits it at high speed.... and then you're faced with replacing. That can get expensive and no guarantee that if hit hard enough, the paint won't also be scarred.
Conventional bra: Good ones provide a great barrier... but...grit and such can get caught beneath the felt under layer... and possibly cause scratching -- and doesn't do well if wet.
IMO, Novistretch is the better solution... and in thinking about it a bit... if there is good PPF on the paint and the Novistretch is over that... then that's not a bad combination.
Bottom line..there isn't anything that is going to 100% eliminate possible damage from road stuff... well, of course if the car stays in the garage... ;-)
Like most said here, Novi Stretch is a bug deterrent. It is a thin, light nylon that will not prevent rock chips. Before I had Xpel Ultimate installed, I used a heavy vinyl Colgan black bra. You could shoot it with a BB gun, it would not get through. But, it was one huge PIA to install and remove. I had to lay on the ground in front of the car and pull the elastic lines with hooks on the end of them and connect them to various contact points. I never had any issues with scratches or sand behind the bra. Mostly because I laid down a heavy wax on the bumper and I removed the bra after I went somewhere. I never left it on. And that too was part of the PIA ownership overhead.
