Default C6 Windshield Cowl?

My C6 base model windshield cowl is split right at the very edge where it begins to cover the edge of the windscreen. Over 55 mph it buzzes and sounds like a kid with playing cards in his bicycle spokes. I have temporarily fixed the problem by sealing it up with polyurethane roofing sealant, which is more robust than silicone sealer. However, it is a five-foot job, i.e., if you get any closer to the car it looks like crap. Perusing all the GM parts web sites it seems that this part is discontinued or just not available. Does anyone know where I can get a new cowl, or at least a good used one?

Not sure about a new one. Try https://aescorvetteparts.com/. not sure if they are still a vendor here or not.

I have ordered some parts from them without issue, good people.

Not an uncommon problem. Make sure you get the windshield cowl and the filler piece on the drivers side.

So the part I ordered from the link I posted earlier is discontinued. Not sure if other sources will have similar outcomes. I also object to the shipping cost which was as much if not more than the part itself (~$80). So I did more sleuthing and saw that most have performed DIY fixes. There was even a GM TSB-like document on how to repair.

See this link: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...problem-4.html

Sorry for the long delay in reporting back. Between knee replacement surgery and a skin cancer scare I have been fussing with doctors and surgeons and physical therapists instead of fussing with the Corvette. I think I prefer the 'vette.

I could not find a cowl anywhere, so I did a DIY using black roof sealer. Loctite PL Polyurethane Sealant for Roof & Flashing. Product bar code numbers are 0 79340 68929 9. It is a 10 ounce tube for a standard caulking gun. The polyurethane roof sealer sticks to glass better than silicone, and excess can be removed easily with a single edge razor blade. (Wait until it dries, and then just scrape the excess off.) One downside: the directions on the tube say it takes 7 DAYS to cure. My experience is that you can drive the car after 48 hours without embedding dust and grit into the sealant. So if you can be patient this is a pretty good solution. Problem solved and you cannot see it unless you get right up on the windshield and stick your nose in it. The black is an exact match for the black plastic of the cowl. This car was never intended to be a car show trophy winner so I am not worried about the "non-standard repair."

If for some reason I have to have the windshield replaced in the future, I will just tell the technician that he can slice the sealer, save the cowl, and either he or I will seal it up again.

I wonder if you couldn't use something like 3M VHB tape. It's the same tape auto manufacturers use to hold molding on, holds really good when properly applied https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail...e-1-4-x-36-yds

The "buzz" is a common problem. Lots of C6 threads on this, e.g.: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...l-problem.html
Do a search for more, Fixes range from complete replacements to a bit of adhesive (lots of kinds tried). I'm not clear if OP's split issue results in a substantially different situation.
